Millions of people around the world know Chuck Norris as the star of more than 20 motion pictures, including Delta Force, Missing in Action, and Return of the Dragon. Millions more know him as a martial arts expert, the only man in the Western Hemisphere to hold an 8th degree Black Belt Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do. And then there are others who know him from his eight seasons on CBS's longest running series, Walker, Texas Ranger.

Who doesn't love Chuck Norris...
Revisado: 02-08-19
I must be getting jaded. I love historical and bio/autobiographical books, but when they put them down on audio, something gets "lost" in the translation. In this case, I think it's the narrator. I get that he's the author's son, but man... definitely NOT cut out for this kind of thing. Still, it's better than some of the other books I've listened to that are akin to fifth grade film strip audio. The content is great, especially after listening to a book about Bruce Lee and his dealings with Chuck, but the choice of narrator could have been a little better. Definitely worth a listen, though.

Revisado: 01-03-19
Once again, a narrator who presents the book's content like a 1950's film strip. No emotion, barely any inflection or change in tone, and little to no understanding of what he was presenting. And Unlistenable to me, and I had high hopes for this one.

Historia
As lead singer and songwriter for the Velvet Underground and a renowned solo artist, Lou Reed invented alternative rock. His music, at once a source of transcendent beauty and coruscating noise, violated all definitions of genre while speaking to millions of fans and inspiring generations of musicians. But while his iconic status may be fixed, the man himself was anything but. Lou Reed's life was a transformer's odyssey. Eternally restless and endlessly hungry for new experiences, Reed reinvented his persona, his sound, even his sexuality, time and again.

Revisado: 12-06-17
I wish the narrator didn't read this book like it was a 1967 instructional film strip. Another listen ruined by a voice that's about as dynamic as a social studies text book.

Historia
For the first time, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, Hillary takes you inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is her most personal memoir yet.

Revisado: 11-15-17
I'm not a fan of hers. But in the interest of "know thy enemy", I genuinely wanted to hear what she had to say. It was pretty much what I expected... blaming everyone for her loss BUT her. All of her disciples will say that "it was totally courageous for her to write this". For those of us living firmly on planet Earth, it won't teach us anything we didn't already know about her, and it definitely reinforced more than a few things. BTW, she definitely should have let someone else read this book.

Curtis has always been the oddball in his movies. I mean seriously, Charles Demar.... One of the strangest, and greatest, characters ever. This book reinforces the fact that in order to look THAT strange on film, your craft has to be THAT good. Curtis IS that good, and his story is very compelling.

Historia
Pioneers of Britain's nascent rock and metal scene back in the late 1970s, Iron Maiden smashed its way to the top, thanks in no small part to the high-octane performances, operatic singing style, and stage presence of its second but twice-longest-serving lead singer, Bruce Dickinson. As Iron Maiden's front man - first from 1981 to 1993 and then from 1999 to the present - Dickinson has been, and remains, a man of legend.

Revisado: 11-10-17
Bruce is, to use the parlance of the military, "the pointy end of the spear" that is heavy metal. This book will confirm everything we as fans ever thought of him. He's a gentlemen, a scholar, highly intelligent, and completely workmanlike in his approach to everything he does musically and beyond. This book is amazing.

I'm the Man is the fast-paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from the man who co-founded Anthrax, the band that proved to the masses that brutality and fun didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Through various lineup shifts, label snafus, rock 'n' roll mayhem, and unforeseen circumstances galore, Scott Ian has approached life and music with a smile, viewing the band with deadly seriousness while recognizing the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry.

Scott Ian IS the man! I've been an Anthrax fan from day one. This book served to open my eyes to a lot of things that went on that we, the fans, had no idea of, and to dispel more than a few rumors. This book came along at exactly the right time. Huge, HUUUUUGE, respect to Scott for bearing his soul to us.

Historia
Seventy baseball seasons ago, on a May afternoon at Yankee Stadium, Joe DiMaggio lined a hard single to left field. It was the quiet beginning to the most resonant baseball achievement of all time. Alongside the story of DiMaggio's dramatic quest, Kennedy deftly examines the peculiar nature of hitting streaks and with an incisive, modern-day perspective gets inside the number itself, as its sheer improbability heightens both the math and the magic of 56 games in a row.

Revisado: 03-24-17
What would have made ICP: Behind the Paint better?
Someone OTHER than Jay narrating this book would have made it better. That and getting rid of the idiotic sound effects in the background.
How could the performance have been better?
Jay's an interesting guy and has overcome a lot in his life to get to where he is. But it's very clear that Jay is also unsophisticated. I respect the hell out of him, but he should NEVER narrate another audio book, not even one he's written. It's just unlistenable.

Historia
Twelve years after Tim Moore toiled around the route of the Tour de France, he senses his achievement being undermined by the truth about "Horrid Lance". His rash response is to take on a fearsome challenge from an age of untarnished heroes: the notorious 1914 Giro d'Italia. History's most appalling bike race was an ordeal of 400-kilometer stages filled with cataclysmic storms, roads strewn with nails, and even the loss of an eye by one competitor - and it was all on a diet of raw eggs and red wine.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else. I'd recommend READING the book, but not listening to it. The narrator seems to injecting too many "characters" into the narration, doing different voices for everybody. It's sometimes annoying and at best, unlistenable. I understand that it's supposed to be humorous, but the execution falls a little short, IMO.
