Could have been summed up in 2 chapters....

Based on the title I was expecting far more actual examples of techniques of persuasion and influence to learn and use in various situations, from business to personal. Out of the 12 audio chapters only two cover actual scenarios and you don't get to them until chapters 9 and 10. Everything else is just an over-long overview of mindset/interpersonal concepts. Six chapters broadly cover perception, the importance of having good communication skills, how to make casual conversation (groan) and so on. Considering how flat the narration for this book is I found those chapters to humorously ironic. Lastly, four chapters contained either the introduction/conclusion to the audio book and it's proposed topic. That's not what I consider good value.

For those who find interacting with others in their lives difficult and are new to or just beginning to learn about interpersonal communication skills this audio/book may provide some helpful insights that are useful to you.

However, for those already adept at interpersonal communication that are looking to truly learn and/or improve your abilities of persuasion and influence with others, this book (audio or otherwise) is probably not worth your time.

All of this I learned in a high school IPC (interpersonal communications) 20 years ago. If one is new to the art of effective communication then this audio book might be worthwhile, otherwise you're not likely to gain any new insights here that you didn't already have.
