Historia
It's the 1970s, and the fight for women's rights is gaining speed. In the sports world, Billie Jean King is breaking gender barriers on the tennis court. Janet Guthrie doesn't consider herself a "women's libber," but to racing's good ol' boys, she's a threat. When Guthrie makes a bid for Indy in 1976, the other drivers slam her mercilessly, even suggesting she's really a man. Fans heckle her, hoping she'll crash. Guthrie smiles through the pain and qualifies for Indy in 1978.

I'm glad I gave Scott a chance he did an excellent job. Thank you for sharing all your experiences in life with me. The place I'll never get at least I don't think so but I was there with you thank you again

Historia
By turns a family drama and an action-adventure story, The Age of Daredevils chronicles the lives of the men and women who devoted themselves to the extraordinary sport of jumping over Niagara Falls in a barrel - a death-defying gamble that proved a powerful temptation to a hardy few. Internationally known in the 1920s and '30s for their barrel-jumping exploits, the Hills were a father-son team of daredevils who also rescued dozens of misguided thrill seekers and accident victims who followed them into the river.

the hills are Heros
Revisado: 06-07-18
Great book because it was based on a great family. I've been back and forth to Niagara Falls so times in my life living in Erie PA. I've never once heard about the hill family until I listed this audio books. What a shame what an amazing family why isn't there a memorial to them there should be..but they were not rich. they didn't donate Millions to build a bridge. They just sacrificed their time and much of their lives to helping others. And there's no recognition anywhere in Niagara falls for them . I'm sure there is in heaven blessed be God to Hill families...great story.. I enjoyed it because not specific little vingetts. It was more biography about a family and their stunts their ups and downs. theirloves and their losse. I bought on a whimp but it ended up being a great listen.. only suggestion to know more about what happened w other members of The Hill Family edith? other younger sisters. harry?. it did say wesley the last surviving member. However the author didn't provide any detail he must have been one of the younger children. I want to know more about this family that is what interest me It's more of a personal interest Daredevil story very good. interested in hill Generations up until today.

Historia
Missing people are far more common than you might think. Every year, around the world, hundreds of thousands of people vanish into thin air. Usually, they have simply been involved in a freak accident that has led to their death. Sometimes, they vanish on purpose and don't wish to be found. On very rare occasions, there is violence at play and the person has been deliberately removed from the public or even killed. In this audiobook, we will be examining the various circumstances in which people happen to vanish.

Historia
Bronx-born top turret-gunner Arthur Meyerowitz was on his second mission when he was shot down in 1943. He was one of only two men on the B-24 Liberator known as Harmful Lil Armful who escaped death or immediate capture on the ground. After fleeing the wreck, Arthur knocked on the door of an isolated farmhouse, whose owners hastily took him in. Fortunately, his hosts not only despised the Nazis but had a tight connection to the French resistance group Morhange and its founder, Marcel Taillandier.

beautiful courageous
Revisado: 05-17-18
the greatest generation is truly the greatest. rarely today do we find people that much courage and tenacity. How wonderful for the grandson to appreciate what his grandfather did and tell the story I think it is amazing seth ..my dad was a radio operator more words. I regret so much that I didn't get his story done on paper before he passed away in 2009. However whatever we asked him about it he would not tell his story because he did not feel deserving enough "it's the people that deserve the credit are the boys that didn't come home" he always said Thank you... to my dads dying day at veteran's hospital with the four daughters surrounding him. He felt it was disloyal to tell a story and take any credit for what he did. so I respect my father for the decision. but i wish he would have decided otherwise. For all those for men and women are the heroes the ones who didn't come home and the ones who did say . I had the privilege unlike seth to Meet and be raised my one of those's hero .
I'm sorry u Never met your grandfather Seth you did an amazing job for him I know he's probably proud of u in heaven

In captivating detail, Stevenson provides a fast-paced, hour-by-hour narration from the hijacking of Air France Flight 139 to the final 90-minute mission. In addition to discussing the incredible rescue itself, Stevenson also covers the political backdrop behind the hijacking, especially Ugandan President Idi Amin's support for the hijackers, which marked one of the first times a leader of a nation had backed terrorist activities.

Israel is just plain dam AUSOME
Revisado: 04-14-18
Israel is the true epitome of a democracy protecting their people. I congratulate them I think this is an awesome awesome example about what every country should try to do for the citizens I know the u.s. has tried and they succeeded many times this is how it should be it's funny how Israel predicted in 1976. that soon if United Nations or the democracies of the world didn't come together and fight terrorism it would not be just Israel being terrorized it would move out until all the world which in 2018 just as surely happened. Terrorism happens all over the world. the USA ,France england, and particularly terrorism came around an bite the pioneers in the rear end as the majority of the terrorism takes place in their country of Pakistan Iran and Iraq. as the old saying goes what people bring to others comes around to them tenfold. maybe if the United Nations and the democracies would have listened to Israel's prediction that it was them yesterday but it would move out to all over the world as it has today. But it wasn't happening to them at the time so the other democracies at the United Nations looked away. Now it is happened to them. Israel still stands today as a beacon of democracy all throughout the world thank you Israel you go girl Godspeed

Jesue body
Revisado: 04-02-18
the narrator was excellent I love Lloyd James. However the author should have went into the presence of the Eucharist. He talks about John gospel the bread of life discourse. if one bring up that gospel passage he has to translate the proper words Jesus said to eat my body. the author didn't finish the rest of it. and believing as Scott Hahn a Convert to Catholicism when he was in the Protestant church trying to translate the passage he could not make sense of it unless he accepted the Catholic Church's teaching of the true presence of the Eucharist I challenge the author and any who know that passage to read it in its entirety. Jesus says unless you eat my body and drink my blood one does not have life in them. He's talking about his litteral body. the author took an easy and general way out saying Jesue meant act as Jesus does and do as Jesus Does. That sums up all of Jesus teachings but this particular passage talk specifically about the real presence in the Eucharist many of the followers left him they could not understand or accept this teaching that a follower must actually eat Jesus body and drink his blood this is one Passage Christians who do not believe in the true presence of the Eucharist cannot get around with false interpretation or error of Doctrine. If refer back to the Greek words Jesus becomes more descriptive saying too chew munch . drink from the cup of his blood as liquid in the cup. It is obvious Jesus was talking about more than a sign of his body and more than the author States doing his good works. the author made sense of how to follow Jesus however he must be a non-catholic Christian. A non-catholic Christians have truth but limited truth the Catholic church is the only one who has the fullness of the truth. Hence the bread of life discourse that the author refers to in his book. All non-catholic Christians believe Jesus bread and blood are symbols signs of a covenant. Then why didn't Jesus raise the bread at the Last Supper and say this is a sign of my body this is a symbol of my blood? he didn't say that he said this is my body this is my blood..... note to the author excellent book however don't be fearful of the truth. It would be better in the context of the church meaning the whole Catholic Apostolic Church. One Church one body one Christ same church it was yesterday today and in the future.. .
I invite non-catholic Christians to not become defensive. But first listen to Scott Hahn's conversion story. Listen to that initially and don't be afraid blessings on Easter Sunday

Greg Mortenson has built a global reputation as a selfless humanitarian and children's crusader, and he's been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He is also not what he appears to be. As acclaimed author Jon Krakauer discovered, Mortenson has not only fabricated substantial parts of his bestselling books, but has also misused millions of dollars donated by unsuspecting admirers like Krakauer himself. This is the tragic tale of good intentions gone very wrong.

thank you John
Revisado: 03-06-18
Arthur basically stresses the importance of checking every charity we donate to. Do not give financial assistance away to make yourself feel good. When it could be placed with a charity that actually uses it. My question is why hasn't Mortenson been arrested for tax evasion or dismissed ... John you make a very good case against Mortenson. However why isn't something done about it fire him placing someone else in charge ? I would not think it would be that difficult. as you stated in your book it's not mortenson's own business it's a charity... appoint someone else to take over it why keep letting him run disarray on it. thank you for this realization much appreciated

We all know someone who was there, in World War II--probably a close relative, such as a father, brother, uncle, or grandparent. Most of us have hardly heard their stories about their young war years. We may have been afraid to ask about their stories, and they may assume we don't want to know. But this was such an important life-changer, with certain death and torture on the line every day--waking up every morning for days and years without their families close by, constant battles going on, and amazing destruction. It was for us they fought, so we should know their stories.

Revisado: 02-12-18
don't bother reading this the author obviously does not know his history at all. Places he made up things. Embellished. Over-exaggerated. Useless information timeline does not make sense he contradicts himself plus it's boring and repetitive ...one of the worst books. made myself finish. total waste of time and this is the first negative review I ever wrote.. but I had to be honest
