Justice not Charity
Revisado: 11-30-16
Would you listen to Merciless Charity: A Charity Styles Novel again? Why?
Yes. I'd need to give it a couple of years for the plot details to fade. Will listen to others in the series.
What other book might you compare Merciless Charity: A Charity Styles Novel to and why?
Many spy novels, but she brings a freshness.
What about Nick Sullivan’s performance did you like?
I could really get in Charity's mind. I anticipated, but did not find, difficulties with a male voice. He made me feel I was there.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No.
Any additional comments?
Liked Wayne Stinnet's Fallen Books. Same qualities in this series.
I appreciated not having to hear details of her torture. With books, I can flip ahead. If I'd heard in this one, would have returned audiobook.

Historia
It wasn’t Nero Wolfe’s idea for Orrie Cather to kill himself, but the great detective gave his blessing to his longtime associate’s plan. Cather had killed three people, and it was only fair to pay the price. Though Wolfe reacted to Cather’s death with his characteristic calmness, prize assistant Archie Goodwin could see the rotund genius of West 35th Street was shaken to his well-fed core. Wolfe decided his sleuthing days were finished. The detective’s retirement lasts until the day Maria Radovich walks through his door.

If you ever hav trouble falling asleep, this book is a good soporific. I'm a huge fan of Rex Stout and even Robert G., but this book is extremely boring

Historia
Reservation "bad boy" Thomas Begay is found dead drunk under the La Plata Bridge, which is not unusual for him. What is unusual, however, is that beautiful BIA investigator Patsy Greyhorse is found lying beside him, not drunk or even a Navajo but very dead nonetheless. Charlie Yazzie, fresh from law school, risks his career and even his life to help his old friend. The answer seems to lie with the Yeenaaldiooshii...should one choose to believe in such things.

Enjoyable Way to Learn More About Navajo Ways
Revisado: 11-03-16
Would you listen to Navajo Autumn again? Why?
This was very pleasant trip into unfamiliar territory.
What did you like best about this story?
The gentle flow of the story suited the characters.
What about Kaipo Schwab’s performance did you like?
His narration suggested the way I imagined the characters would sound but was not too strong so that would have interfered with my understanding what they said.
Any additional comments?
I actually enjoyed this story moe than Tony Hillerman's. There were not so many repetitive phrases that seem to pad the narrative.

What Science Fiction Does Well
Revisado: 10-31-16
What made the experience of listening to The Time Being the most enjoyable?
The story drew me in from its beginning to its conclusion. It marched inevitably to the only possible conclusion. As all really great Science Fiction does, it made me think and apply it to present reality.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Time Being?
When the protagonist's mother realized the extent of the reality from which she had been shielding her child.
What about Melody Grove’s performance did you like?
Her use of her voice to give me a picture of the world as the child protagonist perceived it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
For me, who is not prone to emotions, it appealed the reasoning part of my brain; however to one more emotional, it would bring tears.
