Historia
The age of print is a grand exception in history. For five centuries it fostered what some call print culture – a worldview shaped by the completeness, permanence, and authority of the printed word. As a technology, print at its birth was as disruptive as the digital migration of today. Now, as the internet ushers us past print culture, journalist Jeff Jarvis offers important lessons from the era we leave behind. To understand our transition out of the Gutenberg Age, Jarvis first examines the transition into it.

Decent history lesson but calls for censorship
Revisado: 02-22-25
Really interesting history lessons and context around the birth of printing and all it wrought. Depressing and annoying that it took cheap shots politically, and called for censorship. “Censorship was bad in the past, but let’s do more mow in our digital future”. Non-sequitur.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Flow…. In a fun way
Revisado: 03-28-23
Flow (that effortless high productivity state) has radically upgraded my business life at age 60. This is the most entertaining, honest and insightful take on it I’ve ever read. Kotler again gives new insights into the science in a much easier to understand way than “Art of Impossible”.

Historia
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Get past chapter 2. I wasn’t familiar w author, and this started slow. It got really, really good with practical advice and smart examples. Summaries at end of chapters 5, 20 and 15 were clever and useful.

Since early 2020, the world has experienced a series of catastrophic events - a global pandemic caused by a so-called novel coronavirus; international lockdowns and border closings causing widespread business closures, economic collapse, and massive unemployment; and an unprecedented curtailment of civil liberties and freedoms in the name of keeping people safe by locking them up in their homes.
