Historia
2 CHILDREN FOR SALE. In 1931, near Philadelphia, ambitious reporter Ellis Reed photographs the gut-wrenching sign posted beside a pair of siblings on a farmhouse porch. With the help of newspaper secretary Lily Palmer, Ellis writes an article to accompany the photo. Capturing the hardships of American families during the Great Depression, the feature story generates national attention and Ellis's career skyrockets. But the piece also leads to consequences more devastating than he and Lily ever imagined - and it will risk everything they value to unravel the mystery and set things right.

This story line was great
Revisado: 02-09-24
Though it is set years ago, this book was very well written and has a fantastic story line. To think you could sell a child due to financial circumstances for mere dollars. So sad but we all know it happened then and still today only with a much larger monetary gain for the sellers.
Greatly written and I enjoyed this.

Historia
Margot and James are broken up—for good this time. James made sure of it when he dropped the bomb on Margot: that he doesn’t want kids, ever. Then, on the biggest morning of his life, James—an ambitious lawyer at a high-powered firm—wakes up pregnant. He realizes with dread that he is part of a recent epidemic of men suddenly and inexplicably becoming pregnant. His condition obvious to the higher-ups, James is denied the promotion he was expecting, sending him reeling.

What a strange thought.
Revisado: 02-06-24
Typical Jodi Picoult, I loved this small story. The way she can make a story with such a strange thought - makes you think of what would happen if.

Historia
Inside a beautiful house in Philadelphia's ritzy Main Line section lay the body of a young mother - dead of an apparent drowning in her bathtub. With no sign of a break-in, no history of marital problems, and the naïve belief that these things sometimes just happen, Stefanie Rabinowitz's family prepared to bury the 29-year-old wife and mother. But at the 11th hour, because Stefanie was so young, and because there were no witnesses to her death, an autopsy was ordered. And what it revealed was unthinkable: Stefanie had been murdered.

Hearing the beginning of this story I guessed along the way what was going to happen. I guessed correctly to some extent but it did weave in some parts I had never thought of - how he “borrowed” money from friends and family.

The story line
Revisado: 02-06-24
How Karin Slaughter can weave a story like this was so great. Story line had you feeling for the student who was thrust into a family that she should never had to only to discover there was a story under the story. Great book, I loved it.

Historia
I have something for you. When Quinn Cruz receives that cryptic text message from her older sister Nora, she doesn't think much of it. They haven't seen each other in nearly a year. But when a haunted Nora shows up at the lake near Quinn's house just hours later, a chain reaction is set into motion that will change both of their lives forever. Nora's "something" is more shocking than Quinn could have ever imagined: a little girl, cowering, wide-eyed, and tight-lipped. Nora hands her over to Quinn with instructions to keep her safe, and then Nora disappears.

In listening to this book, I fell in love with the characters for so many different reasons. My heart reached out to the child who was sent off to be hidden by the only mom she knew. Great twists and turns made for a wonderful read.

Historia
Caroline Overington's stunning fiction debut is a multi-voiced novel centred around a child's death and its terrible repercussions. In 1982 Victorian police were called to a home on a housing estate an hour west of Melbourne. There, they found a five-year-old boy lying still and silent on the carpet. There were no obvious signs of trauma, but the child, Jacob, died the next day. The story made the headlines, and hundreds attended the funeral. Few people were surprised when the boy's mother and her boyfriend went to prison for the crime.

I loved this book. I’m no stranger to dementia or Alzheimer’s so I can only imagine how the daughter had to have felt. How sad that it took that to hear truth.
