A Story with Twists and Laughs
Revisado: 01-18-22
It was a good performance by the narrator, she gave every character a voice, and I didn't find any of them to be unpleasant to listen to. The story went between eye-rolling predictability (not necessarily in a bad way, just me judge-y judging the characters) to eye widening plot twists. While the angst and feels are aplenty, if you are for or against explicit scenes, then know that there is no detailed sex scene. Plenty of steam otherwise, though. Also, there is a violent scene, for any who may wish to be warned. I really enjoyed this listen, and I find some of the other reviews misleading, so make your own judgment. But I recommend giving this one a try.

Revisado: 12-31-21
I've been debating this book for a while when looking at queer fantasy titles. I've seen poor reviews on other fantasy-based queer novels, and it was a bit disappointing since I've always enjoyed the genre. The reason I finally gave in and tried this one out was the reviews. I figured it was worth taking the chance. I am so glad I did.
The narrator did a good job of bringing this story to life. There were a few slips of accents or voices, but overall, she gave a great performance. I appreciated her differentiating each character, even minor ones. She has a decent male voice too, so there were few distractions from the story due to the quality of the narrator.
I will admit, at times the story can get convoluted. There are a lot of politics at play, but the author keeps giving little reminders throughout the journey, so I don't have to mentally strain to remember who that was or what was significant about that scene. It helps enjoy the story even as you try to figure it out yourself. I got irritated at some of the foreshadowing, but more so because I like to figure out plots if I can. There was decent world building, character development, and twists. Oh, the twists. Some you saw coming and just waited on the edge of your seat. Others made me whip my head to my phone and hit the rewind button. The queer representation fed my soul, and I appreciated the different cultures/races/groups presented, though some of it seemed rather repetitive and shallow? But I just enjoyed the fact that there could be plot AND queer feelings. This could easily be my next Netflix binge if it were a show, and I'm purchasing the next book after I finish this review.
I think this story has a lot of potential, and I look forward to the next book. If you're queer, or just open to a queer plot, I recommend filling in a few hours of your time with this one.

That's how a book should be read!
Revisado: 01-23-21
First things first, I try to make myself give book reviews because I know I like to hear what other people have to say before I buy a book, but I was PUMPED to leave a review as soon as I finished this book. This was a steamy adventure story that makes a 20-hr book seem too short. I feel like the actual story could have taken place over a longer period of time though. The love story part, while feels-inducing, felt a little rushed, but the action story really starts to get going in the second half of the book. I personally wouldn't mind a little more action in the early middle part, but it didn't bore. I just love action from powerful women. I liked the characters, they felt really fleshed out which is not always the case. I liked getting to know them, and the fantasy world that the author built. I was definitely cheering on their love from the get go. I was playing this every chance I got and I'm bummed now that it's over. I feel like there could have been a few bits improved here and there, but this was actually a really solid fantasy wlw adventure. You get a good story, realistic feeling interpersonal interactions, tension, smoldery sexy time, vulnerability, revenge plot, I could go on. Usually I find myself sacrificing the quality of some portion of the book just so I can hear something gay. I WISH we had more kick A stories like this. So, yeah, I'd recommend this read for fantasy lovers looking for some gay goodness.
Now, on to that performance! And there is no other word for it BUT performance. I am in awe. The narrator had me feeling goosebumps in the first few minutes with that unexpected voice change. She gave everyone a voice and only slipped up once or twice. I liked the voices she picked for the characters too. She really made sure to portray the mood of the conversation. If the character chuckled while talking, she actually chuckled while talking. She had an even flow and a pleasant voice. I will definitely be looking up other books she's voiced.
I hope if you choose this book too that you enjoy it as much as I did!

You want a slow-burn angsty fluff-fest? You got it
Revisado: 01-19-21
I felt like I was reliving my "gay-puberty" again lol. This is a slice-of-life book, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, angsty-angst goodness, and feel-good moments that make you just go squish.
I commend the narrator on keeping different voices for the different characters. She had a nice flow, and reflected the emotion in the writing with how she read it.

Omg This NARRATOR
Revisado: 09-11-20
Guys, this book. I will talk about the story in a sec, but let me say this: the narrator did a FANTASTIC job. She has ruined me for all other narrators. She had GREAT voices for each of the characters and was consistent with them. She had wonderful effects, laughing as she spoke when it said the character did so. All these details she pays attention to really make all the difference. I loved listening to this audio book!
Now for the story itself. This had a lot of depth and the character development was REAL. I enjoyed the journey they took the listener on. It was also so nice to feel all those feels. There was plenty of hospital goodness, as well as downtime for our gaybies. I enjoyed this read, and how realistic it felt.

A Howling Good Time
Revisado: 09-08-20
This was a whole boat load of fluff and hilarious angst that had me laughing and fanning myself the whole listen. There was a very quick build up of the relationship, plenty of wolf lore and cute gayness. A nice light read to satisfy your need for lovey and smoldery goodness. I wish they had tied up the story a little more, but I do know it's a series so I have resigned myself to the fact that I have to continue on with this new world (oh nooooo lol).
The narrator was like caffeine to my ears. She breathed life into the characters, and tried to give them each their own voice. She was consistent with those as well. I admit I wasn't crazy about some of her choices, but I could always tell who was talking. Usually narrators were more...toned down? when they read, so hearing someone with a lot of pep in her voice was a pleasant surprise. It seemed to hype up the story too, and I liked the way she tried to convey the feelings of the scenes sincerely.

Dangerous Romance
Revisado: 09-07-20
This was the classic bodyguard story, now in women-loving-women form. I'm a sucker for remakes. Of course you know how it's going to progress, but the characters' stories are interesting nonetheless. I do honestly wish we got more answers on the *how* of some things, but I can live without those since the romance was the main focus. That sneaky author almost got me with a certain twist, but I appreciate her being here for the gays. All this fluff gives a girl the warm and fuzzies. There was a dash of angst here and there, an action sequence I would have loved to see, and feelings aplenty.
The narrator had a nice voice that was easy to listen to, but her stilted reading was something I had to get used to. Also, there seemed to be about 3 seconds of lost audio in the middle of a scene where 3 seconds was significant. Not that this was on the narrator. She was able to convey feelings really well, and gave each person a distinct voice which helped during some of the conversations. It was honestly just the way she halted in sentences that threw off the listen for me. But I don't think it was 3 stars worthy.

Thirsty Angst
Revisado: 09-06-20
This story was much more racy than I was expecting (not a complaint). The story was more about the sexual tension than anything else, but I did appreciate the accuracy of the world-building. This will definitely have you feeling the heat ;) and it's lacking any hurt. So overall this is for those looking to quench that thirst, but keep it light and fun. Also, kudos to the narrator because I don't think I could have read that out loud seriously. She tried to give each person their own voice, even attempting to imitate the accents they were meant to have.

A Love Story For The Gays
Revisado: 09-03-20
Honestly, I wanted a light read and wasn't expecting a whole lot. This story surprised me with the depth it gave. The inclusiveness was also refreshing. I cheered on our baby gays, laughed as I recalled similar moments/feelings myself, and really appreciated that this book was put into the world. There needs to be more, and this was a great addition. If you had a good coming out, then this will be nostalgic. If you didn't, then this is the story you deserve. The story was well told, and the narrator did a great job! She was able to bring warmth to these characters and I enjoyed the listen. If you need some major fluff with a dash angst, give this one a listen.

This was a nice little story with good character development. The angst was scattered and minimal, the fluff was adorable, and I enjoyed the ride. The narrator did a great job including all the little details to the conversations, and really seemed to bring the story to life.
