Very good
Revisado: 12-15-23
I’m just happy that i can count on Baldacci to never disappoint. Lee Child let his nephew ruin Reacher. Michael Connolly had to “go there” politically, Baldacci and Grisham seem to be all that’s left of my favorite authors. This is a good story. You won’t be disappointed.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

I should have known better. Don’t trust Oprah or Reese. I’ve yet to enjoy a book either has recommended. It was long and drawn out. I tried to like each character but by the end, there wasn’t one I could be friends with. Maybe Kent, and he wasn’t a main character. But he’s the only one who had any. This book was not a tear jerking heart warming story at all.

Would give less than one star if I could. Couldn’t get through more than the first 2 chapters. Unnecessary vulgarity and sexual innuendoes. Made me dislike the characters right out of the gate. Wouldn’t want to be friends with any of them.

Reluctant romance fan
Revisado: 06-12-23
I listen to a lot of psychological thrillers and black ops stuff. So I need something low key and easy sometimes. While I feel like the main character spoke a lot of what should have been internal dialog or not mentioned at all, I really enjoyed this book. It had it all, kept me wanting to listen to it and then ended in a nice pretty bow.

Good not Great
Revisado: 06-07-23
I just didn’t dig the main characters and story line like I typically do in nearly every Baldacci novel. I didn’t feel there was any chemistry and the story line was a little far fetched.
I didn’t hate it. It wasn’t bad enough that I’ll stop reading any of his books like I have Lee Child since he ruined Jack Reacher…

Poor Joe
Revisado: 06-01-23
I wish I hadn’t watched the tv series. This is WAY different. Still very good though. No spoilers, but still typical Joe. I accidentally started the 4th book before I realized I skipped this one. So based on that, there has to be a whole other story we haven’t t heard yet. I hope Kepnes goes back to tell us that story. And based on the TV series, Joe ends up abroad. I hope that means Joe’s unhealthy obsessions and observations continue for a few more books. I’m a fan. Joe’s a sick pup, but in a very lovable way.

So Incredibly Disappointing
Revisado: 12-05-20
Regardless of where one stands politically, I’m personally so sick and tired of celebrities, athletes and now authors, highjacking any and all opportunities to publicize their personal stance on politics and social issues. If they care so much, do something on their own time. Award shows, sporting events and other favorite pastimes, such as reading for pleasure, have turned into platforms for anyone, however educated or knowledgeable, to make their opinions known, as if we’re all waiting with bated breath... I have had it up to my ears. So for Michael Connelly to go SO political, is so disappointing. For one thing, he completely thumbed his nose at half of his reading audience. Secondly, I reiterate, we read for pleasure, to escape all the crap and minutia and vitriol we’re inundated with, daily or even hourly, just by turning on the television or radio. As of right now, it appears my constitutional right as an American doesn’t count for much. So if this is my only opportunity to make a stand, I’m taking it. Michael Connelly has lost my respect and my patronage as a long time fan. I will neither buy nor borrow another of his books.

As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Bring the old Reacher back, please???
Revisado: 12-01-20
Andrew Child has NOT been a good influence on my favorite character. I’m not sure how to make sense of this new version of Jack. He’s now a blues enthusiast who recalls song lyrics and guitar riffs before falling asleep? He’s not nearly as humble, he’s learned to be snarky, he explains himself much more than usual. All Reacher fans already know how he thinks and what his habits are. I hope Andrew Child’s influence on such a beloved character wont be permanent. I’ve never disliked Jack before. There appeared to be new aspects to his personality, in my opinion, and it’s VERY noticeable. And while I’m giving my review, Dick Hill should always be the voice of Jack. Hands downs. Scott Brick doesn’t respect Reacher like his fans do. And Scott Brick reads for SO many other characters that have many books, I feel like he isn’t able to show all the different personalities and nuances of all the people he reads for. He’s the same for all of them. Reacher deserves better.
