last one for me

I like the story overall but this is the third book and we don't need book 1 instructions on every evaluate interaction. levels are slow to come by but happen with every quality fight. we cant add stats in combat except when oh i forgot to do it and now we have 2 levels of stats to allocate. I felt myself zoning out multiple times and went back and finding there isn't enough action to support the slow story.

I am done with the series. I will keep an eye for future works from the author but I believe there are other series that I would rather spend the credit on.

so the story itself is pretty fun and good pacing. the constant skill up make for a good start to an overall enjoyable series. the narrator takes constant sharp inhale and with ear buds listening was insufferable.

how this book has so many 5 star reviews is unbelievable. I was 25 chapters in and only finished in hopes the plot would show up but nope nothing picks up until the last 20%.

I don't mind authors who have politics and the elements were done so well in the first three that this one feels like it isn't even the same author. I'm greatly disappointed this book was published in this state.

the story tells and does not show. that is ok but not my preference but the character development is worse then anything else. the world building is not immersive

finished re-listen, was a struggle

good: narrator did a great job on voice performances. I can tell who is speaking by tone during dialogue

bad: 2 main character points of view and the second character just doesnt make sense.

so I remember finding this book a while back and thinking it was fun but this second go around was a real struggle. if you want a fantastic world with monsters this is really good but my struggle was how annoying the perspective shifts felt going back and forth for 60% of the book. the MC is somewhat likeable and flows well whole the monk just doesn't make sense at all.

underwhelming, but worth the credit

so the story itself is average, the MC is a gamer when he becomes an isekai who is somewhat relatable. many opportunities to make side characters enjoyable were missed as his default is to be cautious and trust nobody after all he never fits anywhere in a foreign land, go figure.

he does adapt rather well to battle but honestly for a gamer and familiar with concepts appears to be rather insufferable with loads of questions about everything.

I have read other works from this author and I am not sure why I waited so long to start this series. the characters are amazing.

I loved this book. each chapter got better and better. previously my favorite was blackflame, but now that is my second favorite. I can't wait for book 9.
