Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Awesome story and awesomer narration
Revisado: 03-11-25
The story of Carl and Donut continues to delight, too bad the next one isn’t instantly available. Damn you Matt for taking time to craft a well told story, tell you what, I’ll send you a fan box with an instantaneous write and edit skill. This will allow you to create nonstop without the need for any annoying editing interface. Additionally, this skill will allow Jeff to read each chapter as soon as you’ve finished it and make the next book available this week!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Ok, there are a few far fetched rescues in this story, but, it is an entirely enjoyable tale based on current technology. Love it and will have to rewatch the movie to make fun of it.

Going downhill
Revisado: 06-04-24
The first book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a unique and new story that seemed full of potential. The second book seemed a bit more of a “national treasure“ play. This book seems to lack direction and just wants to surprise us With who these “Eternals“ really are throughout history.
I’ll look forward to the next book in only that it ends the series.
Ray Porter did a great job reading this book, but I still think Wil Wheaton did a better job.

Historia
Ex-Army paratrooper Griffin “Fin” Brooks thought he left danger behind when his battlefield injuries forced him to pursue a new career in marine biology. But one fateful night off the coast of South Africa, a ship nearly crashes into him and his loyal golden retriever, Jacques. Not just any ship. A starship. Though its alien pilot is dead, the rare extraterrestrial animal inside is not. Fin learns the creature is being smuggled across the galaxy when a pair of interstellar visitors respond to the crash. But those same investigators accuse Fin and his dog of crimes he didn’t even know existed.

Started interestingly, ended predictably
Revisado: 04-25-24
I picked this title because it sounded like there might be an interesting twist due to the character's background in marine biology, but it let me down and just became a run-and-shoot things book. I did listen to the end, but even the lamish cliffhanger ending won't get me to read the series.

Amina al-Sirafi should be content. After a storied and scandalous career as one of the Indian Ocean’s most notorious pirates, she’s survived backstabbing rogues, vengeful merchant princes, several husbands, and one actual demon to retire peacefully with her family to a life of piety, motherhood, and absolutely nothing that hints of the supernatural.

Delightful, fresh tale
Revisado: 02-15-24
This wonderful story kept me enchanted the whole way through. This tale is set in what my western mind can only equate to the world of Sinbad. Our hero is a clever and inspiring pirate captain, who through her strength of character, wits, and loyalty, challenges the unknown to save her family and friends, and maybe make 1 million dinars. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Revisado: 05-12-23
A great story, that builds more layers onto the tale started in the first book. As with all litrpg stories, I wish there was a way to compress the stats messages as they are too distracting in an audiobook, but that's what skip forward is for.

Great evolution to the story. I like how Ishmael develops over the course of the story and series, from lost teen to capable leader. Though the story is not complex, it does show how decency can triumph over adversity.

Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

So, it's hard to set up a new civilization...
Revisado: 02-26-23
So this is a hard turn from the first volume, and I appreciate where the author is going with the narrative. So many stories just assume setting up a new world is easy and that everyone will go along with “the plan”, but it's painfully not so in Outland. In the back of my mind, I also was thinking the simplistic “give this tech to the world and save everyone”, until it's presented why that may not be a great idea... Whelp, well see where Taylor takes this tale, I'm sure it will be a good ride.
