The author did a phenomenal job or narrating her own memoir. It was poetical, lyrical, and submerged me in a beautiful journey. 10/10, amazing!

Matthew Perry. If you’re reading this, thank you for sharing your story. You are absolutely brilliant and I adore you. Much love from the east coast.

"Self-ambulation detected," says the computer. "What's your name?"
"I am Emperor Comatose. Kneel before me."
"Incorrect.”

Where do I begin? Let me begin by saying 'The Martian' changed my literary WORLD. I am NOT a sci-fi person but Andy Weir and narrator Wil Wheaton swept me off my memoir loving feet and whisked me away to Mars. And I didn't really want to come home. Well... those of you who know 'The Martian' can empathize when I say I desperately wanted to bring Mark Watney home. But you get what I'm saying!
So naturally, when 'Artemis' came out, I jumped all over that shit hoping to feel the same if not more than how 'The Martian' made me feel. Aaaaaand I fell flat on my face. In my opinion, 'Artemis' SUCKED EGGS. I hated the main character from the get-go, I hated the plot and to top it off, I hated the narrator which I do recognize that wasn't Weir's fault. But still. Did I let this deter me? Nope. I saw 'Project Hail Mary' and jumped right in. AND IT WAS AMAZE-BALLS! It's exciting and interesting and funny and witty, everything 'The Martin' is and maybe even a smidge more.
Scientist and middle school teacher Ryland Grace is a nerd to the max and when he hears of the most recent anomaly buzzing around in the science world he can't seem to look away. And as quick as you can say 'super nova black hole' he's in too deep and 100% involved against his will with the task of saving Earth and all of mankind... and maybe more.

I owe the world to this man and his audiobook.

In the most excruciating moments of running my very first marathon, this man's voice helped carry me through. It was cold. It was raining. Atmosphere was non-existent. Morale was long gone. I reached for a book in between seeing family members every 7 or so miles. And this was the book I reached for. Thank God I did because it allowed me to immerse myself in his soothing voice and momentarily forget about the near impossible task ahead of me.

Thank you, Mr. McConaughey. Really. Thank you.

This was a love letter to all Action Parks of the late 80s and 90s. And from a late 80s kid, it made my heart long for those hot Jersey summer days where heaven was a filthy, dangerous, overcrowded water slide that you had to stand in line for 2 hours just for 4 minutes of bliss. Thank you, Andy Mulvihill.

Relatable characters. Worth my time but nothing crazy, special. Good for passing time between big reads.

This wasn't as deep as I had hoped. I feel like India only skimmed the surface while writing this. Could be wrong, that's just my opinion. 3.5 stars.

Most importantly, a big thank you to NetGalley, Anne Sebba and Grand St. Martin's Press for providing me with a copy of this publication in exchange for an honest review.

“"If the English want a king, it is their business. If the Russians want communism, it is their business. If the Americans want our form of government, it is our business." -Julius and Ethel Rosenberg

I first learned of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg 14 years ago while I was in high school. Funny yet slightly embarrassing to admit, I was dubbed an "emo kid" and posting pictures and quotes on my then trendy MySpace page from these two solidifies my teenage persona. The admiration I had for their unwavering loyalty and affection toward one another has remained with me through all these years. But I wasn't old enough then to understand their story nor form a logical opinion on their guilt or innocence. 'Ethel Rosenberg: An American Tragedy' was my first adult experience on the topic and I must say, Anne Sebba did a phenomenal job bringing her findings to the table in a user-friendly format.
Innocent is the color this book paints Ethel in, and I can't say I disagree. This account thoroughly details Ethel's childhood, meeting of Julius, marriage and beyond. It amazes me to learn so many new, significant tid-bits that most definitely help the reader understand more of where Ethel comes from and gives us some insight as to why she may have ended up in the situation that she did. Which is why I award this book a solid 4 stars for standing out in a sea of Ethel Rosenberg accounts.

DNF.

Just couldn't get into this book. Not my style. But gave it the good ol' college try. Narrator was appropriate for the story though.

Most importantly, a big thank you to NetGalley, Jon Billman and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy of this publication in exchange for an honest review.

“Most states’ missing persons statistical figures climb irregularly upward; however, many of the missing on public wildlands aren’t counted. Or they’re not separated from the urban missing. In most states, no one even knows who should be counting. It seems a special mess considering the technological resources we have in our pockets. Sometimes the lost are found, but often not. The mountains are shrouded in fog.”

If someone likes a book, they call it their "cup of tea". If that's the case, this book is my pitcher of refreshing iced tea on a sweltering summer day! Jon Billman's 'The Cold Vanish' is chock-full of eerie cases of people vanishing into thin air in the Unites States' National Parks and the Canadian wilderness. Each disappearance is described in great detail, so much that you'll want to read this with all the lights in your house ON.

More important than the curiosity and mystery surrounding these cases is the underlying question as to why we don't have an accurate, efficient system in place to track the missing population nor to update their families with searches and activity regarding the recovery of their loved ones. Those systems we do have in place are so wrought with inaccuracies and contradicting information that some government agencies refuse to use them.

Written with verve, this book will raise extremely important questions and inspire the reader to immediately get up and do something to bring these missing PEOPLE home and give their families the answers they deserve. 5 solid stars to Jon Billman and 'The Cold Vanish'.
