Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Magical yet so real
Revisado: 04-20-22
I'm so glad I got the Audible as well as owning the book. This is a classic. A miracle how a girl who couldn't see brought me into this world and time in such a way that I could visualize and comprehend every minute detail.

Revisado: 01-10-21
The mix of personal stories of the characters and political and social crime and mystery came together for a gripping story. not my favorite in the series, but adds much to the development of Miles^ and Ekaterin^s characters and lives. Recommended!

interesting world
Revisado: 10-27-20
reads more like a mystery than the other books in the series. intrigue of the culture is well drawn and Bujold's usual wit is fun and well applied. but not my favorite so far, so 4 of 5

A Fly by the Seat of Your Pants Adventure
Revisado: 10-14-20
Adventure with heart. Complex yet always relatable. Dark moments and laugh out loud dark humor. Only 4 when compared with other works by this author. A 5 over most writers.

Historia
I>Shards of Honor is the novel in which Lois McMaster Bujold introduced the science-fiction world to Barrayar and Aral Vorkosigan, Beta Colony and Cordelia Naismith. From this beginning the author has created a multigenerational saga spanning time as well as space. Bujold is generally recognized as the current exemplar of the character-based science-fiction adventure story.

Leo Graf was just your average highly efficient engineer: mind your own business, fix what's wrong, and move on to the next job. But all that changed on his assignment to the Cay Habitat, where a group of humanoids had been secretly, commercially bioengineered for working in free fall. Could he just stand there and allow the exploitation of hundreds of helpless children merely to enhance the bottom line of a heartless mega-corporation?
