Totally Disappointed

I am a huge Eric Ugland fan, having listened to the entire Good Guys, Bad Guys and Grimm Guys series (even though there has only been one Grimm Guys). This book however was tedious to listen to, Think Sesame Street almost meets LitPG.. I ultimately had to keep advancing one minute at a time to just finish the book.

AWFUL

I didn't expect this to be an anime book. The voice of the 20 yr old MC sounded like a 15 yr old and voices of children sounded like cartoon characters. The concept of the book was interesting, but the writing seemed more suited for a school project. The book was on sale so the only real loss was time wasted.

Basic LitRPG Done Right

Totally enjoyable. Maybe a little too much repeating of stzts at the beginning, but that stopped to be a problem after the first couple of chapters. May be too basic for some, but I expect that it will become more complex in next books in the future.

Maybe a little YA, but worth the sale price

Not what I expected. Characters not very believable. Pretty good science mixed with some pseudo science. A Hispanic kid a mixed race kid a black kid and a white kid with never a MF or F U to be heard, unbelievable!

Word Padding?

I have listened to all the Barry Esler novels and this is the only one id di not enjoy It felt to me like there was a lot of "word padding". The MC repeated the same feelings multiple times either to himself or to others when it wasn't really necessary for the story. Because of the "word padding" the book seemed to be about twice as long as it should have been.

THRILL RIDE

What a fun book to listen to. Terrific characters, even if the the MC should stand up to the women a little more. Book 3 builds extremely well on the previous two books leaving me looking forward to book four Steel World. On top of everything else, Neil Hellegers is a master as always.

Different type of dungeon in a good way. As silly as it sounds, the MC was kind of cute... for a monster. Well worth the sale price.

Simple, but fun.

Although the story was fairly simple, it was a fun listen anyway. The characters are somewhat one dimensional which really didn't hurt the story. Good narration. There was a nice twist at the end of the book.

Too Verbose

Way too descriptive of every thought and action. It did not seem like the author was trying to pad the length of the book, but more like they couldn't stop from describing every small detail. The actual story line was very good and as usual Travis Baldree was terrific.

LONG SETUP...LITTLE PAYOFF

This book was fun to listen to. Many of he characters were interesting, but most did not have much depth. The concept of accidentally becoming a farmer was terrific and it was easy to believe that the MC really did not want to be a farmer.

My personal problem with the story was that it took a very long time to do very little. The payoff at the end was anticlimactic, seeming as if the entire book was a setup for a second (or more) book.
