Historia
Polly Spencer is fine. She’s single, turning 30 and managed to have sex only twice last year (both times with a Swedish banker called Fred), but seriously, she’s fine. Even if she’s still stuck at Posh! magazine writing about royal babies and the chances of finding a plus one to her best friend’s summer wedding are looking worryingly slim. But it’s a New Year, a new leaf and all that. Polly’s determined that over the next 365 days she’ll remember to shave her legs, drink less wine and generally get her s--t together.

Historia
Three months have passed since Richard Jury was left bereft and guilt- ridden after his lover's tragic auto accident, and he is now more wary than ever. He is deeply suspicious when requested on a case far out of his jurisdiction in an outlying village, where a young woman has been murdered behind the local pub. The only witness is the establishment's black cat, who gives neither crook nor clue as to the girl's identity or her killer's.

Historia
Kate Reddy had it all: a nice home, two adorable kids, a good husband. Then her kids became teenagers (read: monsters). She's facing her 50th birthday; her mother and in-laws are in precarious health; and her husband is having a midlife crisis that leaves her desperate to restart her career after years away from the workplace. Kate is scrambling to keep all the balls in the air in a juggling act that an early review from the UK Express hailed as "sparkling, funny, and poignant...a triumphant return for Pearson."

Not a Bad Book but Not For Me
Revisado: 04-01-19
This will be the first audiobook I don't finish. Not because it's poorly written or a bad story but because I'm the wrong audience. It's about a pre-menopausal woman dealing with difficult teenagers struggling with her finances and in a low point in her marriage; consequently she is facing some serious self-esteem problems due to all of the above.
I'm Not In That season of my life yet so I just can't relate. Her parenting style is completely different from mine so again I can't relate. Basically this is not a bad book, I'm just the wrong audience.

Historia
Emma has a job in television which is distinctly less glamourous and exciting than it sounds. She's managed to claw her way up the ranks from Tea Maker and Rubbish Collector to Second Assistant Director (heavy on the assistant. Even heavier on the second.). So when she finds she's accidentally very pregnant and at the same time accidentally very sacked (well, less accidentally: she did tell her boss to stick his job up his bum), she knows things are going to have to change.

My life,in a paralelle universe
Revisado: 01-29-19
As some one who "did life in order" (according to Emma anyways) this book opened my mind to another women's perspective. I appreciated her struggle but in a way that had me actually laughing talking back to the narrator.
I had all the emotions while listening to this book and the ending is sublime. Highly recommend this one.

I really didnt enjoy this particular story line. I feel it was well written, witty, and very "real" but I spent a lot of time cringing at the characters personalities. Cute book - wrong customer :-).

Literary Masterpiece
Revisado: 07-28-18
My favorite book ever is Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon. I wanted to recreate the magic and I would say this didn't disappoint.
It has love, hate, revenge, historical anecdotes, sex, violence, culture, unexpected plot twists and a satisfying ending. I usually only listen to books in the car on the way home but I listened to this at work, home, in the tub, you name it.

Why Mummy Drinks is the brilliant novel from Gill Sims, the author of the online sensation Peter and Jane. It is Mummy's 39th birthday. She is staring down the barrel of a future of people asking if she wants to come to their advanced yoga classes and polite book clubs where everyone claims to be tiddly after a glass of Pinot Grigio and says things like 'oooh gosh, are you having another glass?'

Soundtrack of My Life
Revisado: 07-10-18
If you change the narrator to a black woman from the south then this would basically be the soundtrack of my life. Why Mummy Drinks makes me feel so much less crazy but simultaneously makes me realize how crazy I look to everyone else all at once. But I love this book and I absolutely recommend it to Mums everywhere. Turns out we're all a little nuts.

Perspective is Subjective
Revisado: 01-07-18
As a young woman embarking on the journey of life it was so good to get this reality check. I don't wait to give away ANY of this book but I just have to say it makes you think what would 20 year old me think of 30 something year old me? Would she like me? Would she be proud or ashamed of my decisions, actions, accomplishments? I was touched by this book; it is well written and we'll narrated and has the best ending ever.
