Revisado: 12-31-22
Loved the story, and how it showed both perspectives. Girls voice is good, didn’t LOVE the guys voice but it grew on me. I had to listen in 1.4 speed because I can’t deal with how slow it is but yeah love. Def want to read more of her books.

Historia
In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America's cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

Historia
Did you know that men secretly use texting as a way to "pre-screen" a woman’s romantic value? A woman’s texting habits can reveal a lot about her self-worth, confidence, intelligence, and even her level of class and emotional maturity. Because guys covertly appraise a woman’s relationship potential this way, many women often have no idea that the way they communicate via text is actually sending the wrong message and thus, they unknowingly end up chasing men away.

Not bad
Revisado: 07-07-22
Not bad, I feel like some of this is common sense but for some gals I think some of the points could benefit them. Basically a long way of saying treat yourself with higher value and pick up on the cues from people who don’t see that in you and move on. I think if you struggle w not knowing how to flirt via text, it can give you some tips lol

Effective communication!!
Revisado: 05-22-22
Great book to understand your attachment type and how to accept it for what it is. It gives solid examples of effective communication (ie how to work with your attachment type) and how you might use it in your current situation or in the future. Definitely would recommend to anyone in a struggling relationship or someone seeking to get into a secure one.

Historia
There are, in the United States, a significant and growing number of families who live on less than $2.00 per person, per day. That figure, the World Bank measure of poverty, is hard to imagine in this country - most of us spend more than that before we get to work or school in the morning.

Insightful stories
Revisado: 06-09-21
The performance was good, I enjoyed the switch off in tone when different people were meant to speak. The personal stories really bring to light some of the horrific realities this $2 dollars a day population have to endure, and the conclusion leaves you with pragmatic solutions to address these issues with US policy today. Definitely would recommend to anyone interested in food insecurity, urban planning, public policy, or public housing.

Loved this, got me back on track.
Revisado: 03-24-21
This book gave me a lot of practical tools to use, realistic ways to set goals and meet them, and true hope for my future. It broke down the bits that build habits (good and bad) and provided various ways to build awareness around my own habits.
I’d definitely recommend this book (and have been) to anyone seeking to level up in some area of their life, or anyone whose been trying to reach some goal but hasn’t been successful yet.

SHOCKING ENDING
Revisado: 03-24-21
This book was fantastic! I hadn’t read a fiction novel in a few years and I’m so glad I started with this one. Finn transitions and shared the details of this story effortlessly, leaving you wanting more over and over. The ending was entirely unpredictable and well done, which is why I have to give it 5 stars all around.

Historia
With food scarcity driven by falling water tables, eroding soils, and rising temperatures, control of arable land and water resources is moving to center stage in the global struggle for food security. “In this era of tightening world food supplies, the ability to grow food is fast becoming a new form of geopolitical leverage. Food is the new oil,” Lester R. Brown writes. What will the geopolitics of food look like in a new era dominated by scarcity and food nationalism?

Informative
Revisado: 03-24-21
When I first started reading the book, I was a bit frustrated with the emphasis on managing population growth. I didn’t feel that it was taking into consideration the other factors in play that contribute to overpopulation in some areas of the world. However, by the end of it it did address everything that was coming up for me.
But by the end of the book I feel like this author had a lot of great information to share about global food insecurity and different methods to address climate change as well as other systemic issues at play exacerbating each other.
I did have to read this book at a 1.5x the speed because it was too slow for me.

"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Helpful and insightful read
Revisado: 08-03-20
This book was very insightful in regards to the act of being present. It gave me new perspective on life, self love, and how I can embody mindfulness and compassion in my life everyday. The guided meditations were pleasant to follow, and prompted more awareness around my thoughts, bodily feelings, and surroundings. I feel like this book impacted me in that it helped me find peace of mind as I figured out how to truly forgive - myself and others.
The narration was also very well done. I felt like the tone matched the messages within the book, and I found her voice relaxing/calming.
