Historia
The last in the Afrolit Now series, The Sins of The Fathers by Zukiswa Wanner is narrated by a man dealing with immense grief. When he’s unable to heal from the trauma of loss, Akani begins to question his and his father’s role as a parent and, in doing so, awakens to the patterns between them. In trying to avoid being like his father as a husband and as a parent, did he inadvertently become exactly the man he wished not to be? And what secrets lie untold? As he grieves, he wonders whether he was ill-advised to keep secrets that may unwittingly hurt his family.

The Sins of the Fathers
Revisado: 04-13-24
A very touching story. It felt like a real-life story of how a man was trying so hard to not repeat the sins of his father.

Want to read pornography?
Revisado: 01-19-24
I was disappointed that the story started to seem written with lots of pornography. Potential readers should be forewarned. I could not listen to the entire story.

Historia
Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

Couldn’t Stop Listening
Revisado: 07-21-22
As you listen to “The Miranda Obsession,” you’ll get reeled into listening to this story about all the men she reels into her story.
I was hooked and had to continue until the end! And as with any good performance, you never want it to end!

Historia
When it comes to bread, Reena Manji knows exactly what she's doing. She treats her sourdough starters like (somewhat unruly) children. But when it comes to Reena's actual family - and their constant meddling in her life - well, that recipe always ends in disaster. Now Reena's parents have found her yet another potential Good Muslim Husband. This one has the body of Captain America, a delicious British accent, and lives right across the hall. He's the perfect, mouthwatering temptation...and completely ruined by the unwelcome side dish of parental interference.

Charming, Engaging Story!
Revisado: 09-27-21
I really enjoyed “Accidentally Engaged.” I listened to it on Audible, and lost many hours of sleep when I found it hard to stop listening to the story!
I enjoyed that it exposed me to a different culture (transplanted Indian Muslims) living in Canada.
It has a very satisfying conclusion, and I almost wish that actually existed. I want to go to Toronto and eat at their restaurant and get them to autograph the cook book; but alas, it was fiction!

Major Stories Covered Five Days a Week
Revisado: 05-18-20
I enjoy listening to Audible everyday! The Wall Street Journal covers five items each day, often exposing me to information I might have missed.
I also appreciate that I can adjust the speed of the speaker by setting it to .9 (or lower if you like) to catch every word.
I am now kept more informed by listening to the Audible edition.
