Death walks alongside me. But the reaper is no match for me. I'm trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren't as they seem. They won't keep me forever. I no longer recognize the person I've become. And I'm fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night. They call me a diamond. But they've only created an angel of death.

There's an interesting story somewhere inside all the smut.
Revisado: 01-03-25
I like a raunchy romance as much as the next young woman, but sometimes there doesn't have to be 10 whole minutes of just endlessly detailed, very r@pey sex. I couldn't finish the last 15 minutes, because I really didn't want to hear anymore. If you cut out all the sex from both novels, you'd probably be left with a single 8 hour novel. If you're looking for anything other than smut that is basically just r@pe porn, this is not the book for you.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Beautifully written, and kept me guessing.
Revisado: 10-05-23
The characters feel real, their conversations sound mundane in how true to life they are. the twists were amazing, and kept me wondering, and I had a few "AhHAH!" moments. The only negative I have to give, is the ending. I am left wanting. I am left longing for some form of true end. This ending is what feels forced, is what feels unrealistic. Other than that it was perfect.

A Beautiful End to an Amazing Tale
Revisado: 08-15-23
The characters felt so real, I felt the women, and knew them, I heard the men and understood them. Maas is a world builder that could rival some of the old Fantasy Greats. The worst part about it all, is that it ended.

Revisado: 06-14-23
I ate this book and it's predecessor UP. Absolutely thrilling. It's sexy, it's action packed, Sarah paints the picture of the landscape and the people so perfectly I feel like I know them, but doesn't over fill my head with exposition. The third cannot get here soon enough for me to listen to.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

Not for me.
Revisado: 05-10-23
Maybe I'm wrong for this, but I like to be entertained when I read or listen. If the author had put half as much time in detailing the climax as he did the jewelry, scenery, and clothes, maybe I wouldn't have wanted to fall asleep while listening. I get there's "meaning" and "nuances" to this obvious allegory for human nature, but this feels more like a thought experiment than an actual narrative. Also the author CANNOT write a woman. Julianna is hands down the dumbest protrayl of a female lead I have ever witnessed, and honestly an insult to most women with more tha 2 braincells.

Historia
Geralt the Witcher battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike in Sword of Destiny, the second collection of adventures in Andrzej Sapkowski’s groundbreaking epic fantasy series that inspired the Netflix show and the hit video games. Geralt is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless hunter. Yet he is no ordinary killer: His targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

Even better than the first one!
Revisado: 11-11-22
Intense, yet whimsical, bloody but beautiful. This book captured my attention from the first sentence and held it fast the whole time. Plus the narrator's dedication during the mermaid part was amazing. The more I read/listen to the books, the more I hate the Netflix series for butchering a truly fantastic tale.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

One of the Best.
Revisado: 10-28-22
I devoured this book, I consumed it hungrily because not only did it feed me emotionally, but spiritually. This book fed my soul in a way I wasn't prepared. I ran through all 18 hours of it at a sprint and toward the end I couldn't care less who heard it being played. It was perfectly performed also, and as a Georgia girl born and raised my accent has been extra intense lately! I went through a recent loss of a loved one, and listening to the love these women put into their characters was like a hug that I didn't know I needed.
The only negative thing I can say about this whole experience, is that it has ended.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Truly Fantastic
Revisado: 10-25-22
Gritty, majestic, heart wrenching, and beautiful. The story itself held me from beginning to end, and the narrators held my attention and heart right in their hands. I not only felt like I was there, but the compelling story and how the different narrators read brought me to tears in a way that I wasn't prepared for. I cannot sing better praise for this book and the performances.

Revisado: 12-14-21
The narrator was phenomenal, the story is just as wonderful on paper as I thought it would be. I had only ever seen the movie, so I wasn't prepared for the two extra heartbreaks that were in store for me. He saved the worst for last, as is his preferred method of torment. 10/10 will probably listen again

The Best One
Revisado: 02-19-21
This book tied everything together and ended in a way that broke my heart. By no means does that make it not my favorite of the whole series. It brought to light real pain and issues of the world we live in, and did its best to sugar coat the most painful of abuse without taking away the gravity of the situation. Even now as I write this review I am in tears for the love I feel for these characters and their love for one another that was so beautiful performed by the voice actor. A truly amazing tale that will stay with me for a long time.
