Historia
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Andy Serkis Was Sheer Perfection

Not bad, but it could've been a better recording.
Revisado: 10-04-22
The singing is annoying and doesn't make the story telling go well when Andy clearly can't sing. It's rather jarring going from his speaking voice to him singing the songs in a way that I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than listen to him trying to sing.
Otherwise, good version of the beloved classic story.

Wish I could return it.

It wasn't what I thought it'd be and not impressed with it at all. Rather preachy and irritating than relaxing. Seriously need to to return this so it's no longer cluttering up my library since I won't listen to it a second time.

Historia
This volume starts with the famous M. R. James story of occult revenge, "Casting the Runes", about a slighted occultist out for murderous revenge using his diabolical black arts to achieve it. It was adapted into the equally chilling movie Night of the Demon in 1957. Next up is another famous classic, W. W. Jacobs' "The Monkeys Paw", a brilliantly written tale of greed and getting what you wish for. The third story is "Hop-Frog" by Edgar Allan Poe - a classic yarn about the grisly revenge conjured up by a mistreated court jester.

Perfection!!
Revisado: 05-07-20
When I found out Doug narrated not only two selections from Poe for this volume but also "The Monkey's Paw" as well, I was overjoyed! They're three of my absolute horror/suspense tales of all time and Doug truly delivered in reading them. I've listened to this countless times already and will never, ever tire of it, period. Highly recommend purchasing and downloading this. You will not be disappointed.
