Enjoyable to the end

Great narration, unsurprisingly of course. York and Mitchell are some of the best in my opinion. Well written, and although predictable, Nadia’s writing captivates to the end.

Great narration, good writing and mediocre plot

I love Xe Sands and although this wasn't one of my favorites of hers, she still did a great job. The plot was predictable for.the most part which can be boring, but there were some twists that caught me off guard and kept me engaged. Not one that I would read again and again, but decent book none the less.

If you have nothing else to listen too...

So the story is a slight retelling of one we have all heard (as noted in the synopsis). So I was not expecting unpredictable twists and turns, but I was expecting substance. Apart from one scene where she stood in front of her childhood home, I felt nothing through this story. The narrator carried the story and is probably the only reason I was able to finish it. The ending (don't worry, no spoilers) was a giant leap from protagonist to antagonist and was "too soon" as far as plot goes, but not soon enough in terms of my time spent listening to it.

I wouldn't recommend this book, but since it is apart of the plus catalog it will not cost you anything more than precious time.

Cute rom-com to pass the time

Loved the narrators and absolutely love the author. Funny, quirky and relatable love story. Not as many laughs as the first book, Call Me Maybe, but still very enjoyable. Clean romance, meaning if the kids over hear it you won't scar them for life.

I am writing the review preemptively since I have only heard the trailer currently available. The actual episodes are due to be released on May 6, 2021 (Next week!)

The trailer sounds hilarious and I love the cast. I can't wait to listen to the first episode and will update accordingly at that time.

Pedictable, but not boring

The narrators were great and the story, although predictable, was well written. All in all, it was an enjoyable listen. This is a good time passer with a sweet HEA, but nothing too memorable and certainly not one I will be telling everyone about.

So twisted and wrong, but oh so captivating

This was a full of tough and taboo subjects that it could have been complete trash. However; the author did a great job by acknowledging the depravity of it all.

The subjects include child neglect/abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, murder and child molestation. I can't say much more without spoiling it, but I highly recommend this book. it is heavy and dark, but has moments of love and kindness and even little bits of laughter throughout.

I general I would not recommend this for young adults as it is very dark and there should be a trigger warning for all readers due to the the topics I listed above. I have to admit, it wasn't until I finished the book that I fully understood the title. The ugly is 100% ugly, but in a strange, twisted and "only because it is fiction" kind of way the ugly was also wonderful.

Facts of Mom-ing

The number of ways I can relate....countless! This was a great story with lots of laughs and noteworthy cringe moments and Christina said it perfectly. I could easily picture the big F*You moments like I was watching a movie instead of listening to the book. Only a few teary eyed moments, but not too heavy that tears actually fell. (Winning!)

To sum it up... I loved it all!

Perfect book to pass the time

This would be perfect for a plane ride or a lazy day by the pool. With enough plot twists to keep you guessing, but not enough to make your head spin. the characters had depth and evolved throughout the book. With so many characters, both male and female, Eileen took an impossible task and made it look easy.

If you are looking for a book you can't put down and a story that stays with you long after the closing credits, then this is not the book for you. However; if you simply need one to keep you engaged for a few hours or so, then what are you waiting for?
