They're locked into a ghetto, and she fears they'll never see freedom again. When the Nazis begin rounding up Jews, Janek, a Polish Catholic teenager, doesn’t let the warnings of executions for those caught helping Jewish people stop him.

The lesser known Nazi crimes
Revisado: 12-08-23
Many crimes were committed by the Nazi war machine throughout Europe and many Nazis escaped with the help of governments, individuals and the even the church itself.
This book, although a work of fiction, barely touches the surface on the many ways Nazis escaped justice throughout the world.
The story of Liliana, her family and the people of Monte Sole were based on the very real Marzabotto massacre, the largest massacre of civilians committed by the Waffen SS in western Europe during WWII.

Beautiful story with an abrupt ending
Revisado: 08-27-23
I loved the story immensely until the very end. The author seemed to just want to end it. she did as if she was bored with the story and wanted to be done.
There was so much more to be told in this beautiful narrative…

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Incredibly beautiful story
Revisado: 04-04-23
What a beautiful story weaved by a masterful storyteller.
This is the type of story one reads that will touch your heart and will stay with you forever.
The story of a farm family, of growing up, of coming of age, of the binds the link us all to each other.
The background of the story took place during a time of extreme turmoil in the history of Mexico during the agrarian revolution in the early 1900’s. Is not historically heavy but rather as informational background at the time the story took place.
Be prepared for a knot in your throat and even a tear or two.
