Historia
Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

I kept waiting for it to get interesting. It never happened. The ending just made it worse.

Historia
From his earliest work in the 1950s to today, Willie looks back at the songs that have defined his career, from his days of earning $50 each to his biggest hits, from his less well-known songs (but incredibly meaningful to him) to his concept albums. Along the way, he also shares the stories of his guitar Trigger, his family and “family,” as well as the artists he collaborated with, including Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Dolly Parton, and many others.

Usually I Love Willie's Books...
Revisado: 02-07-25
This one is terrible. it seems disjointed and not being read by Willie makes it lose some of the normal charm of Willie's books. The stories are good but most have been told in all previous books so not much novelty in it. Very disappointing and not up to his usual quality.

The Story is Okay; The Narration is Tough....
Revisado: 11-05-24
One narrator is in a huge hurry to get to the end. She rushes through every line like she's in a race. The other reads as if reading at story hour for young children. If you can get past that, the story is okay but the author clearly pulled her inspiration from Making a Murderer. The baseline story is ripped right from the documentary; documentary included! The turns it takes are different, of course, but the original thought is not there. I'm about 3 hours in to this 8 hour listen and so far, I wouldn't put it on my "must recommend to a friend" list.

Historia
If it can happen in show business, it’s happened to Jon Cryer. Now he’s opening up for the first time and sharing his behind-the-scenes stories in a warmly endearing, sharply observed, and frankly funny look at life in Hollywood. In 1986, Jon Cryer won over America as Molly Ringwald’s loyal and lovable best friend, Duckie, in the cult classic Pretty in Pink in a role that set the tone for his three-decade-long career in Hollywood. He went on to establish himself as one of the most talented comedic actors in the business.

Revisado: 08-08-24
We all know and love Duckie and spent hours watching Alan... but there's a lot before and in between all of that that I bet a lot of us, including me, didn't know about or pay attention to. It's a good story and his telling of it in his own voice makes it that much better.

In this remarkable dual memoir, film legend Martin Sheen and accomplished actor/filmmaker Emilio Estevez recount their lives as father and son. In alternating chapters—and in voices that are as eloquent as they are different—they narrate stories spanning more than 50 years of family history, and reflect on their journeys into two different kinds of faith.

Prior to his untimely death, in 2010, Captain Phil Harris was a star of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, the hit show that follows the exhilarating lives of Alaskan crab fishermen as they brave the vicious Bering Sea. He led his crew through hurricane-force winds and four-story-high waves, hauling in millions of pounds of crab and raking in millions of dollars. Phil worked hard, but he played even harder....

Audio is Annoying
Revisado: 05-14-24
I don't know why audio book producers think the tinny overdubbing of phone calls is necessary to a recording. Whenever a character is supposed to be on a call, the person at the other end is garbled and robotic and it's completely unnecessary and very off-putting. This seems to be an Australian thing 🤔 I'm not finished the book yet. The story seems good so far, but I had to get that off my chest.

She's So Hard to Listen To!
Revisado: 04-28-24
The subject of this episode is great and I'd love to hear more but this woman isn't so much answering Natalie's questions as what sounds like reading, very rapidly, from pre-written essays. I'm told I talk fast and if I sound like this woman, I want to apologize to everyone I know. Had to stop it 5 minutes in because she's going to make my head explode.

The definitive, intimate, no-holds-barred biography of Johnny Cash. People don't just listen to Johnny Cash - they believe in him. Although part of his life has been told on film, there are many compelling layers to his story that have remained hidden - until now. Robert Hilburn tells the unvarnished truth about a musical icon whose personal life was far more troubled and his artistry much more profound than even his most devoted fans have realized.

You'll Love Johnny Cash Even More!!
Revisado: 09-23-22
So well written! And perfect narration! The fact that the narrator had a deep voice like Johnny's was a perfect touch! I cried at the end like his death was my own personal loss because this book makes you feel like you were there, you were family, and you love him despite all of his imperfections. You'll want to read this because you're a fan; and you'll be a bigger fan when you're done. 10 Stars! Exceptional!
