Historia
Akart's standalone novel, ARkStorm, is based on actual events. In 1861, a 43-day series of atmospheric rivers, huge flows of moisture carried from the tropics to the West Coast, turned large swaths of California into an inland sea. The intense rainstorms pounded the state unabated with little respite. Rivers became raging torrents that swept away entire communities, killing thousands. The State’s Central Valley turned a massive body of water 300-miles long and 20-miles wide.

Well written as usual.

It is dark, as the author said in his intro. But dark is what all encompassing disasters are, whether natural or man made. He brings out the inmate will to survive that has always been part of the human psyche, which I hope will survive modernity.

By the end of World War I, Britain had promised control of Palestine to both Arabs and Jews. Each of these peoples claimed a longstanding right to the same piece of land, and violence was inevitable. This presentation examines how and why this magical land has become a virtual war zone.

Too one sided.
Revisado: 09-28-22
Too many lies of omission and outright bias to go into detail with. Suffice it to say, that it sounds like something one would expect in leftovers from WWII Nazis with the antisemitism bias, innuendo and flagrant abuse of truth. I’ve tried twice to listen to it, but each time have grown so disgusted that I couldn’t finish it. 10:49 seconds left but I’m done with it.

In The Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany, Thomas Childers shows how the young Hitler became passionately political and anti-Semitic as he lived on the margins of society. Fueled by outrage at the punitive terms imposed on Germany by the Versailles Treaty, he found his voice and drew a loyal following.

This adaptation slaughtered the book & characters. Don’t waste your money.
Revisado: 07-09-22
If the mispronunciations weren’t bad enough, most of the female characters sounded worse than 12 year old valley girls from the 80’s. Even though the background sound effects transport one’s mind into the story, they don’t overcome the basic fact that the other narrations are truer to the books and better all around. I got all three adaptations with mixed feelings, hoping for better…didn’t happen. Adaptations are poor with the exception of the narrator who did a fair job in spite of slaughtering many pronunciations. A basic knowledge of Irish and French languages would have helped before fumbling so badly. Hard to enjoy a book when you’re cringing with so many mispronunciations & voices too childish to be believable in the age group they’re trying to portray.

Historia
The year is 1943, and the three Allied leaders - Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin - are meeting for the first time at a top-secret conference in Tehran. But the Nazis have learned about the meeting, and Hitler sees it as his last chance to turn the tide. Although the war is undoubtedly lost, the Germans believe that perhaps a new set of Allied leaders might be willing to make a more reasonable peace in its aftermath. And so, a plan is devised - code name Operation Long Jump - to assassinate FDR, Churchill, and Stalin.

I was raised in Anaconda, MT. The history of the area given is completely wrong while the cultural history is somewhat correct. The author is describing Butte, a neighboring city. So you have to wonder how much more did the author get wrong or not research thoroughly? The story itself is entertaining, narration good. But if there’s misrepresentation of one part, is the rest accurate? Judge for yourselves.

The narrator ruins a good story.
Revisado: 12-23-21
Please get back to the original narrator. When the “voices” of the different people are used, versus straight narration, I want to shut off the book. Whomever is doing the other voices ruined the book.

Historia
This fresh look at Hollywood's "Queen of Screwball," Carole Lombard, presents a first-ever examination of the events that led to the shocking flight mishap that took her life on the side of a Nevada mountain in 1942. It also provides a day-by-day account of the struggles of Lombard's husband, Clark Gable, and other family, friends, and fans to cope with the tragedy. In effect, having just completed the first sale of war bonds and stamps in the nation following its entry into World War II, Lombard became the first Hollywood star to sacrifice her life in the war.

Narrator over dramatic
Revisado: 02-10-21
Wonderful story that answers multiple questions. But the narration almost kills the book. Her voice is lovely, but tone down the drama, please! I wasn’t impressed by the over the top hysterics. It made listening difficult. Otherwise perfect voice for narration.

The first skirmishes are already being fought. The crisis America faces is between two incompatible visions of the future, and a nation sharply divided between them. Will we become this diverse beacon of tolerance where we forget our past and embrace socialism and political correctness? Or, will we stand for our traditional beliefs, values, liberty, and sovereign government as free citizens our Founders did?

Not sure I agree with the logic of how he got there, but could not agree more with most of his conclusions. The left want to force feed us their progressively bad ideas of putting the world and small groups ahead of the whole, the very people whose taxes they want for everyone but those who’ve earned the wages. (If THAT is not slavery, I don’t know what else you’d call it.) I suspect the force feeding we’ve received since this book was written is the preamble to more intense actions to come...with its inevitable result of violence. This is my greatest fear. But with the degree of irreconcilable differences between the 2 main groups of Americans, I don’t see how it can continue. A spark is inevitable.

Historia
The House of Plantagenet was a royal house of 15 monarchs who ruled England from 1154-1485. The Plantagenets originally came from France, where they ruled a county called Anjou. They were a strange and powerful family, complex and prone to insanity. Their founder, Count Fulk III (known as "The Black"), had his wife burned at the stake in her wedding dress when he discovered she was sleeping with a goatherd.

This stated that Richard did not have any skeletal deformity. Not true. His skeleton was discovered in the last century with what is referred to as a “Dowager’s Hump.” It’s a more “modern” term for hunchback.
