If you've watched ET, Tremors and any of the Alien movies, then you have read this book. The book was good but I kept having "Wait a minute, that's just like xyx..." moments.

Minimal science fiction

This was more a romance/psychological story and very little science fiction. There was way too much repetitiveness and internal monologing. After listening a third of the way through I started skipping ahead 20 minute increments and the story refused to move along.

Only one episode!? Bummed!!!!

I got really invested in the story by the end of the first episode, only to find there were no other episodes. The first episode posted in May 2021. Because of this I really want to give it 1 star, but the other aspects were great.

Don't understand why Book 1.5 is released before Book 1. A few minutes in, I realized that Book 1 was being ruined for me. I stopped and fast forward just to leave this review.

All of the harmful tropes

The way the only black character and the female character fulfilled every harmful stereotype was disgusting! I couldn't finish! How many times did he have to make a sexual reference, be obnoxious, cuss, use the p***y and b***h words when referring to everything and especially the female character? How many times did she conform to whatever her commander/boyfriend needed? The native American character is all wise and serves as 2nd command and the main character's pet. The Hispanic guy's depiction screams "Ese!" The author needs to do better.

With the differences and random audio changes, I could not get through this book. One character would sound like the mic was on the other side of the room while the character they were speaking to was loud and clear. At times there was some kind of echoing. The sound quality kept pulling me from the story. I kept having to turn the volume up and down. I understand recording in different studios but this was madness. I stopped at Episode 4 and I still can't tell you what's going on.

Episodes would not play. To check and see if it was my phone, I went to another podcast and was able to play an episode fine. Tried to play several "Other Stories" episodes and none worked.
