A bad story
Revisado: 09-18-23
I tried with this series for too long and I am giving up. This story is not going to get better and while i hate to put this on the narrator, because its clear there isn't much for them to work with, they end up falling very flat . As much as I would like to see progression with the premise its just not there and after 5 books in, its unlikely to ever happen. I will be going back to the first book and writing a broader review for the series to hopefully save folks some time. If you somehow are reading this review before starting book one, do yourself a favor and avoid this one. Its just not that good.

It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.

interesting story, but this isn't a book.
Revisado: 08-24-23
The premise is good and, for the most part, well written. The performance is excellent. The author has no arc or path that would define this as a book for me. it's like they got to a page count quota and just... stopped. end of book one. it's infuriating BS that more and more are forgetting to fix when jumping from amateur chapter by chapter storytelling to putting together a book. as a customer, I can not tell you how sick I am of spending money for a story that, while interesting, can't be bothered to include something so simple as an ending. leave a cliffhanger, a series hook sure, but FFS RESOLVE A PLOT.

Book ten on shaky ground
Revisado: 08-22-23
You can really tell that the author is trying to juggle too many plates. This whole book reads like setup for another, better, story. I love where we have been and look forward to where we could go but can not stand another book that leaves me wondering if we are there yet. I get the feeling the author could write entire books on some of these side characters and I wish they would instead of an entire book housekeeping bits here and there with very little in the way of a payoff. I'm sure it's leading somewhere interesting, but it really sucks in the moment to invest in doldrum books that are placeholders to set up better books later.
TLDR: Don't buy this book until the next book is out.

Marc's home from college on break, spending his time laughing about some of the crazy news stories he's found online, and gaming. When a message appears in his line of sight, blocking out absolutely everything else, he nearly freaks out. The message warns that the world has been in a variant Natural Laws beta test for millennia and that it's about to revert to the norms.

The voice acting is good but the story never is.
Revisado: 04-21-23
I have listened to all five books available in this series and unfortunately, the author never delivers on the potential of the premise. Although there are some deep bones of a decent story here, none of them ever see the light of day to fully develop. The danger and threats are built up and then turn out to be underwhelming and easily resolved, without any lasting consequences for the characters. Even the core characters' relationships never evolve beyond surface level interactions. Prepare yourself for kiss on the cheek level romance or mild annoyance pretending to be interpersonal conflict. The world-building itself is also incomplete, leaving many questions unanswered. Why are the characters the only ones equipped to handle the situation? Why do they never use their obvious advantages again beyond the heat of the moment? Why are the characters unchanged from situation to situation and never burdened with any meaningful evolution of character? Unfortunately, the story never sets a hook with the intention of paying off in a meaningful way. Instead, it relies on cliffhangers that end up so easily resolved that they seem more like gentle sloping downhill strolls. The powerful characters never face any real challenges or change, leaving the story feeling flat, unfulfilling, and across five books it never improves. I would not recommend this series to anyone but the very young or those who find that suspenseful dynamic storytelling makes them uncomfortable.
The only redeeming quality is the narration, which does its best to present the story in a compelling way. Derek Shoales was the only thing to keep me listening beyond my curiosity to see if the writing ever improved.

Historia
For millennia, the Weave, an alliance of species, have fought to resist the telepathic Amplitur, who strive to unite all self-aware life-forms in their great "Purpose." The Weave is slowly losing ground, but for both sides, warfare focuses more on outthinking and outmaneuvering your foe than destruction. In fact, most regard violence as hideously barbaric, and even the thought of harming another sentient being is beyond imagining.

interesting premise that goes nowhere.
Revisado: 09-30-20
I am a great fan of Mikael Naramore who is able to imbue characters with a great deal of character with his voice however the material he is working with here is pretty shabby. There are many interesting themes presented that ultimately go nowhere and remain unexplored. I would recommend skipping this trilogy, its not the worst but you will get little satisfaction from it.
