A Solid Story Prompting Introspection
Revisado: 09-15-17
An entertaining story with a message that prompts personal introspection. The audio narration is solid and fits the story well (and is better than most narration).

Historia
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to find yourself strapped to a giant rocket that's about to go from zero to 17,500 miles per hour? Or to look back on Earth from outer space and see the surprisingly precise line between day and night? Or to stand in front of the Hubble Space Telescope, wondering if the emergency repair you're about to make will inadvertently ruin humankind's chance to unlock the universe's secrets? Mike Massimino has been there, and in Spaceman he puts you inside the suit.

Entertaining and Inspiring!
Revisado: 06-21-17
This book isn't your typical "heroic astronaut stories" book (tho it has those too) - it's much more. Astronaut Massimino tells his story from a time when NASA was in decline with wavering public support - opposite of your typical Apollo stories where the nation often rallied around NASA's every action. The book, ultimately, is about challenges and direction, but with an (awesome) astronaut flavor. If you're expecting a historical account of his career and stories about space, you get that, but you also get a peek inside how difficult it can be to be an astronaut and how they are infallible like everyone else - which underlies one of the book's main goals - to inspire people to become our future generations of astronauts - even if you don't think you can be one, try all the same.

Historia
An unprecedented high-level master narrative of America's intelligence wars from the only person ever to helm both the CIA and NSA, at a time of heinous new threats and wrenching change. For General Michael Hayden, playing to the edge means playing so close to the line that you get chalk dust on your cleats. Otherwise, by playing back, you may protect yourself, but you will be less successful in protecting America.

A Rare, Balanced Point of View
Revisado: 07-29-16
Gen. Hayden provides a rare, fairly balanced point of view on a topic that rarely, if ever, has one presented. He is even, well articulated, and supportive of points that are drawn from facts rather than opinions, when possible and relevant.

Historia
Renowned novelist and screenwriter Mark Frost turns his eye for golf to an event so famous that it’s grown to the stuff of legend. In 1956, a casual bet between two millionaires eventually pitted two of the greatest golfers of the era—Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan—against top amateurs Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi. Frost recounts this dramatic tale from start to finish, detailing the match that vaulted golf out of the shadows and into the national spotlight.

A fantastic journey into golf, but, more importantly, into life, perspectives, and what actually matters at the end of the day - people.

Historia
Every day, three times a day, the students march in two straight lines, singing praises to Kim Jong-il and North Korea: Without you, there is no motherland. Without you, there is no us. It is a chilling scene, but gradually Suki Kim, too, learns the tune and, without noticing, begins to hum it. It is 2011, and all universities in North Korea have been shut down for an entire year, the students sent to construction fields - except for the 270 students at the all-male Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST).

A rare insight into North Korea
Revisado: 07-09-16
Suki Kim does an amazing job at telling a story from a rare perspective. The story is excellently told and the narrator does a good job. I only wish Ms. Kim could have stayed longer to continue to collect more stories and perhaps continue to influence the future leaders of North Korea even more so than she has.

Historia
Long before Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled through time in a flying DeLorean, director Robert Zemeckis and his friend and writing partner Bob Gale worked tirelessly to break into the industry with a hit. For the first time ever, the story of how these two young filmmakers struck lightning is being told by those who witnessed it. We Don't Need Roads includes original interviews with Zemeckis, Gale, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Huey Lewis, and over 50 others who contributed to one of the most popular and profitable film trilogies of all time.

An engaging story, but development needed...
Revisado: 09-13-15
I enjoyed the story and the characters are endearing and interesting. I hope the author continues to use then, maybe making the main trio a bit of a citizens detective group. However, more development of the story and characters was needed and certain areas, and the story sometimes felt rushed or too linear without twists, which isn't great for a mystery novel. But I'd give it a listen (I enjoyed the performance and voices) and I hope the author continues to write more, preferably with the same characters I now love. :)
Edit: Looks like the author has several more books in the series that may not be out yet. Looking forward to them!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

I was hesitant to get this book due to a variety of factors, but I'm sure glad I did. It's a thrilling story and the problems that arise never get repetitive or unbelievable, which can be a story killer. If you like adventure and space, this is a must read.

In The Viral Storm, award-winning biologist Nathan Wolfe tells the story of how viruses and human beings have evolved side by side through history; how deadly viruses like HIV, swine flu, and bird flu almost wiped us out in the past; and why modern life has made our species vulnerable to the threat of a global pandemic. Wolfe's research missions to the jungles have earned him the nickname "the Indiana Jones of virus hunters," and here Wolfe takes listeners along on his groundbreaking and often dangerous research trips - to reveal the surprising origins of the most deadly diseases....

Dry at parts, but worth the read/listen overall.
Revisado: 06-17-15
For the topic, it reads quite well. Don't expect an anecdotal "Outbreak"-type book; it's more focused on information than story. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in virology.
