Historia
Heidi Wood has always been a charitable woman: she works for a nonprofit, takes in stray cats. Still, her husband and daughter are horrified when Heidi returns home one day with a young woman named Willow and her four-month-old baby in tow. Disheveled and apparently homeless, this girl could be a criminal—or worse. But despite her family's objections, Heidi invites Willow and the baby to take refuge in their home. Heidi spends the next few days helping Willow, but as clues into Willow's past begin to surface, Heidi is forced to decide how far she's willing to go to help a stranger.

I love this author and purchased this book yesterday, but as I'm listening, it sounds familiar. Sure enough when I check my library, I already bought and listened to this book in 2015.

Historia
After the tragic death of Bridget’s parents, her grandmother took her in. Vera Bitter raised her from behind a closed door—cold and uncaring from the moment she arrived at Bitter House. After Bridget’s high school graduation, Vera kicked her out without so much as a goodbye, and Bridget never heard from her again. Which is why, when she receives word of Vera’s passing and discovers she’s inherited the family manor, she’s immediately filled with dread. Those worries are amplified when she arrives at Bitter House after years away to find an enigmatic piece of her past waiting for her.

I just wish I could return this book, but Audible’s crappy limited return policy restricts me from doing so. This book is unlistenable.

The male narrator is the worst!
Revisado: 09-29-23
Not a bad storyline, I probably could have finished the book, but the voice of Oreck (what a name by the way) sounded like J Peterman from Seinfeld, so overly dramatic and intonations in the wrong place. I couldn’t take it anymore.

Best book I’ve read in a long time!
Revisado: 09-20-23
Liz Nugent, my new favorite author. This book reminds me of Leanne Moriarty, lots of well-developed characters and plenty of intrigue. All of Liz Nugent’s books are great, but this one should be made into a film or miniseries.

Historia
It was surreal returning to work after a five-month enforced sabbatical following the suspicious death of my best friend Livvy at a work event. I was grateful for the time away to grieve and had slotted straight back in work but a surprise awaited my return. Amanda Dowd, Livvy’s replacement, was entrenched as my new flatmate in the company apartment. Something didn’t feel right, I felt on edge. But everyone seemed to love her. Even my ex-Jayden was blinded by her outgoing personality and model looks. When I began to receive calls, photos and presents supposedly from Livvy, I became spooked.

Are you kidding me? How did anyone enjoy this book? I am halfway through and not a single interesting thing has happened. It’s just nonstop, whining about being a new mother, and bibliography notes read out loud. I don’t get it! Horrible!
