If hearing about a man kidnapped. threatened, strong armed and developing light Stockholm syndrome (the characters words). With monster girls, pet play, some light D/s, and dubious consent. This might be your thing. I could ignore the dumb names, the shallow relationships . But it gets dark and kinda uncomfortable in the last half.

Out of 15hrs only like 2 isn't adult scenes. No real story, character development or anything like that. Just sex scenes, side chapters that are also sex scenes flashbacks.Filled with porn level dialogue Not my thing but maybe you'll like it better.

It's like a YA protagonist in an adult themed novel. And it's less grating than I'm the first book. However the fish out of water excuse works less here and ards babbling idiot savant thing is harder to ignore. Everything else is decent. predictable but decent. Needs better editing as well, parts repeat.

Ignoring the whole "mommy" thing. The Felix/ edgar set up that's been passed up since the beginning of the book. and the powers that add little to nothing to the story or world. Having your mc want ony one woman and reminding your readers he's only really interested in the others for sex, while saying he wants love doesn't make sense. I enjoy that he doesn't try to romance every woman he comes across but the actual Harem doesn't get enough focus to keep building up abc throwing away randoms.

the slice of life is great, the tacked on villain and nearly random battle sequence to sort of hand wave away an actual explanation or ending. not so much.

The story is decent but the audio is poor, it's almost like they cut and pasted different reasons together with all the random pauses, differing volumes ave changing inflections that entails. also the author really needs to have a define pronunciation for the characters. the same characters name will change between books and even worse in the same book. glassia is not glacia. siren or psy-ren. mammon or Ma'mon. pick one!

I think I'm out. Jake becomes more and more unlikeable, the "challenges" he loves are either overwhelmingly easy or if he's even mildly challenged the plot comes in with an anime sudden power up. He's repeatedly shown his shortcomings. word for word spelled out here but he learns or improves nothing. what's a challenge where you're sure you can't lose? what's a life or death fight when you don't actually care if you die? in short. boring.

Short version, if you haven't read the other runner books and aren't enjoying new Felix this one isn't for you.

Felix 2.0 whines his way through half the book. Gets rejected and promises he won't put his life on hold due to said rejection, then does just that repeatedly while hype focusing on a single woman while his life, his future, and everything around him burn.

Then despite an almost conscious effort at ignorance at every turn, and what amounts to deus ex speed dating and wibbly wobbly timey wimey. He gets oddly judegy and sanctimonious. outta all of the runnervese books and what feels more and more like a harem author who doesn't wanna do the whole pesky relationship thing. I've never struggled through one more with an mc and main girl that are both unlikeable.

also real late in the game/universe to start poorly questioning the ideology of the overall plot .

Felix is written more like Vince. There's no real story here just horny world building. He finally manages to evolve his powers and he does little with it. I get it, harem stories are smut with a thin veneer of story. The first three books have the relationships based in feelings. Now everyone is just horny. From shadowy cabals, to battles with gods, the death of a world to what? a producer? a psuedo mob boss? Downgrades on nearly all fronts.

The unnecessary dark soft reboot

I tried, I really did. From the mc's wives becoming little more than cameos. To the whole overdone conquering of champions and their public humiliation, repeatedly.

The sudden moral and motive changes of previously established characters mid book.
and the entire nikki/ Steve dynamic being boiled down to -spoile- r"yeah but she's prettier and a better lay".

I couldn't do it. it's written decently though not as well as the authors other works and the whole thing is less a part of a bigger story and more like an unnecessary gritty reboot.

Hard pass.
