Something hides in the mines. When Véronique gets sent to mine tin, Bruno is determined to rescue her. But what he finds underground will scare the crepes out of him. More people than ever are looking to Bruno to shake things up and champion equality. But in order to gain the people's confidence, Gaspard says he's gotta read a thousand-year old book the size of Baptiste, and learn how to do magic tricks with... a walking stick? Historia
In Télesphore, the glowing color of a person’s palm determines their place in society, and shaking hands with another mixes the colors permanently. When sixteen-year-old Bruno accidentally kills a royal soldier, he goes from favored to fugitive. Now Bruno's only chance at survival is to become someone else. That means a haircut, a change of wardrobe, and most important, getting rid of his once cherished Blue. Five years ago, An Uncommon Blue hit the shelves and immediately became a Costco Best-Seller. This updated and extended anniversary edition contains new scenes, new characters, and ...

Even with the AI robotic voice, the book made me cry several times. I already purchased book 2.

Everybody knows what adoption is, but adoption has changed dramatically over recent decades. Open adoptions create an opportunity for biological parents to remain connected with the child even after the adoption takes place. Emotionally, this is still largely uncharted territory for everybody involved and relationships can be difficult to navigate. Told from the point of view of an adoptive father, the journey the Elkins took is such a roller coaster ride you would think this true story was fiction.

I listened to all three of these in a couple days. Russell does a great job narrating them and the stories and insights themselves are engaging and informative. I’ll definitely be recommending this to anyone who’s thinking about adoption. I wish more people turned to adoption as an alternative to abortion.
This book made me think a lot about things I wouldn’t have, and now I’m a total expert on open adoptions. Jk - it sounds super hard but rewarding.

Historia
The Story Grid is a tool developed by editor Shawn Coyne to analyze stories and provide helpful editorial comments. It's like a CT Scan that takes a photo of the global story and tells the editor or writer what is working, what is not, and what must be done to make what works better and fix what's not. The Story Grid breaks down the component parts of stories to identify the problems. And finding the problems in a story is almost as difficult as the writing of the story itself (maybe even more difficult).

Doesn’t deliver, awful recording
Revisado: 04-12-23
I listened to all but the last hour or so. The promise to give us the secrets of writing is destroyed in a mess of incoherent, subjective cataloging. Great, he’s OCD. Maybe his system works, but he could literally just sell his “grid” for a couple dollars. It’s petty self- explanatory. He just goes on for hours about Silence of the Lambs. What would’ve been really useful is if he’d given us the conventions of all the genres. As for the recording - worst editing I’ve ever heard. So so unprofessional. And the accompanying pdf is too small to read and has duplicates. I’m currently trying to return my copy.

Historia
Equipped with skills far beyond those of the outworlders, Rezkin has been suddenly thrust into a foreign world. The young warrior clings to his only known purpose as he continues his search for any information about his identity and the reason for his existence. While the hardened warrior scorns both dueling and tournaments, he believes some of the answers he seeks may be found at the King's Tournament, the greatest dueling championship in all of the kingdoms.

Very few sequels live up to the first book. This one is JUST as fantastic. My new favorite series.
