Historia
As a Native American with parents of both Navajo and Cherokee descent, Stanley Milford Jr. grew up in a world where the supernatural was both expected and taboo, where shapeshifters roamed, witchcraft was a thing to be feared, and children were taught not to whistle at night. In his youth, Milford never went looking for the paranormal, but it always seemed to find him. When he joined the fabled Navajo Rangers—a law enforcement branch of the Navajo Nation who are equal parts police officers, archeological conservationists, and historians—the paranormal became part of his job.

Fascinating Glimpse into the Paranormal on the Navajo Nation
Revisado: 03-19-25
This book is a fascinating glimpse into paranormal events on the Navajo Nation by a professional Navajo Ranger, but it’s also so much more! The author is of Navajo descent and relates many cultural and historical insights from his tribe’s perspective that were highly educational and inspiring to learn. The author’s narration of the audio version is also passionate and compelling, and overall I found this audiobook to be a very rewarding listen.

Delightful story & narrator!
Revisado: 01-30-24
Such a charming, well-written story with a pitch-perfect narrator! This audiobook was a total delight, and an unusual romantic comedy choice for Valentine's month for my book club without the usual, tired romantic tropes. Instead, The Dead Romantics was truly fun, sweet, and at times sprinkled with profound perspectives on love in all its forms. Our book club really enjoyed it!

Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Brilliant Book & Brilliant Narration
Revisado: 02-28-23
One of the most important books of modern literature, and it just gets more and more prophetic and true with each passing day. This afternoon I am going to a community meeting to protest the banning of a book in the local high school by a nefarious superintendent who violated district policy. The ideas and stakes represented in Fahrenheit 451 are still as real today as they were in 1953! God bless Ray Bradbury for his extraordinary courage and vision to write this book.

Historia
Golden Globe-winning actor Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

Incredible Story & Narration
Revisado: 02-21-22
This exquisite story by Truman Capote is made all the more poignant by Michael C. Hall’s tender and pitch-perfect narration. There are many moods and accents to cover in this piece, and the actor aces them all. One of the best audiobooks I’ve ever heard.

Historia
For over 300 years, a curse has kept the Owens family from love - but all of that is about to change. The novel begins in a library, the best place for a story to be conjured, when beloved aunt Jet Owens hears the deathwatch beetle and knows she has only seven days to live. Jet is not the only one in danger - the curse is already at work. A frantic attempt to save a young man’s life spurs three generations of the Owens women, and one long-lost brother, to use their unusual gifts to break the curse as they travel from Paris to London to the English countryside.

Social distancing came easily to Reagan. Maybe a little too easily. She’s always liked people better from afar. But Reagan doesn’t want her grandpa to be alone for Christmas this year - he’s already spent too much time on his own in 2020. So she heads back to her hometown with a dish of holiday Jell-O salad, hoping they can have a little normalcy. Hoping it will be safe...

Very well done short story
Revisado: 11-29-21
I loved this short story. The characters are fresh and highly nuanced, and the story is anything but typical. The author cleverly brings the story full circle in a short space of time, yet it never feels rushed. The originality of this piece definitely made me want to look into more of this author’s books.

What a gorgeous story, wonderfully narrated by Glenn Close. I loved it so much I cried at the end. Heartfelt, poetic, yet true to the history of the frontier, exactly the kind of story I was looking for.
