Historia
1468. A young priest, Christopher Fairfax, arrives in a remote Exmoor village to conduct the funeral of his predecessor. The land around is strewn with ancient artifacts - coins, fragments of glass, human bones - which the old parson used to collect. Did his obsession with the past lead to his death? Fairfax becomes determined to discover the truth. Over the course of the next six days, everything he believes - about himself, his faith, and the history of his world - will be tested to destruction.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

I enjoyed the story, Hail Mary is my favorite Andy Weir book so maybe I just tend toward story over serious content.

This series gets better with each book. The character development keeps me listening and the story is believable despite being set in an alternate reality and universe. Loved the sailing ship segments, bravo

Historia
The newspaper refers to the body only as Victim 2117 - the 2117th refugee to die in the Mediterranean Sea. But to three people, the unnamed victim is so much more, and the death sets off a chain of events that throws Department Q, Copenhagen’s cold cases division led by Detective Carl Mørck, into a deeply dangerous - and deeply personal - case. A case that not only reveals dark secrets about the past, but has deadly implications for the future.

Finally Asad’s story
Revisado: 04-16-20
The Department Q series never fails to deliver a deeply moving story, spot-on narration, and characters uniquely suited to the task of untying the knots of the plot. Asad's past has been an ’in story’ mystery from the first book, I wasn't prepared for the horrors of his past but in the end all was revealed and finally resolved. The author is so skillful at the insertion of levity to balance the books tackling of difficult content, it keeps me coming back and looking forward to the next one.

In this third book in the thrilling and epic Book of the Ancestor trilogy from international best-selling author Mark Lawrence, powerful novice Nona Grey must fight to survive in "a fantastic world in which religion and politics are dark and sharp as swords, with magic and might held in the hands of wonderful and dangerous women".

Perhaps my favorite fantasy saga
Revisado: 04-29-19
From the first book through the third we follow Nona, taken from home as a child for trade, or barter or sale; identified by the taker as one of the secretly gifted children of the Empire -- then the adventure begins. The narration is so amazing, even after I have completed listening the narrators many voices resonate in my brain. While the world created in the books unfolds slowly the pacing never lags. The books take place in a 10 period of time as Nona grows from 10 to 20 years of age and from being 'sentenced' to being a novice at Sweet Mercy Convent to a full fledged Sister of the Empire. The depths of feelings, loyalty, betrayal, skill acquisition, friendship, mentorship, unraveling of mysteries all conspire to create a thrilling, thought provoking, compelling experience, do not miss the ride.

Historia
The wonderful first novel from the critically acclaimed author of The Sleeper and The Sisterhood. It's New Year's Day and the year isn't kicking off well for Tansy: her mother's dead, she's a cocaine addict and her boyfriend has just left her. A trip around the world seems like the only option except that she's not interested in seeing the world, just escaping from it, and the last people she wants to hang out with are backpackers.

LOved the Narration
Revisado: 09-27-14
Where does Backpack rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
While I was not sure in the beginning if I wanted to continue, the narration by Emmy Fenney was Brilliant!! I became totally absorbed by Tanzey and her adventure while not wholly believable it was storytelling at its best, I laughed at times and shrugged at times but what kept me going was the voice of both the author and the narrator, Loved it because of her narration, she is terrific and should narrate more books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Backpack?
Tanzey's growing awareness of herself as an independent person, not the daughter, not the girlfriend, not the party girl but her inner self being comfortable with herself, I think there are a lot of lessons in the book for young people.
What does Emma Fenney bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice is Great, I cannot believe there is not another book she has narrated, she showed range, depth, phrasing and she kept me coming back to it, Do More books!!!

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-07-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
There are so many loose ends and implausible events, it reads like an unedited version of a possibly interesting story.
Would you recommend The Blood of Alexander to your friends? Why or why not?
No, the story is not just implausible but the main character is more like a cartoon version of James Bond or Jason Bourne. The dialogue is simplistic, not deciding if it is a comedy or a serious story.
Would you be willing to try another one of Bronson Pinchot’s performances?
Not likely, I did not care for his version of female voices.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Could not finish
Revisado: 11-15-13
Would you try another book from Donna Tartt and/or David Pittu?
NO
Would you ever listen to anything by Donna Tartt again?
Not with the same narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I did not enjoy the narration at all, if I hear the word SORRY again in that whiny manner I will stop listening.
Any additional comments?
I made it through almost 16 hours of listening and when the story and the character remained stuck in the 13 year old voice from the opening I had to stop. If the drugs and drinking did not create addicts of these two 13-15 year olds I would like to know why not since they both continued their drug abuse into their 20's and we are still expected to believe they are not compromised? I just could not care about either one of these two guys. Hobbie was the only character I had any connection with and I would not have put up with "Potter" much longer than necessary, the narrators voice never caught up with his grown up persona and the dialog never changed either, could not continue after the picture was finally stolen by Boris's sub-culture, too much for me.
