Historia
After waking from a coma following a car crash, Beverly Thornton's once sweet and gentle disposition had been replaced by violent mood swings, profanity-laced tirades, and uncontrollable fits of rage. Inside the Thornton house, floors and countertops were piled high with dirty laundry and garbage because Bev was unable to move well enough to clean. Dinners were a Russian roulette of half-cooked meat, spoiled milk, and foods well past their expiration dates.

Resilience and Love
Revisado: 03-09-25
...And by Love I mean God. this easy to read captivating memoir follows the suffering and yet resilience of a family experiencing TBI in the 80s. While most families ( and of course who could blame them) may have been torn apart by the abuse and anger in the home, this memoir reveals how Jesus --- I don't know--- can craft something beautiful from anger, trauma and disappointment. I'm struck by the father who maybe out of guilt and responsibility dives I to a marriage of the unknown. I'm not saying people should stay in abusive marriages or marry out of guilt, but man this story is impressive.

Space, it's not what you think!
Revisado: 07-02-24
Not being a fan of the Spy School series, I began reading these space novels just for something in the car. Waste of Space was the best in the series and the Epilogue 2, was a testament to hope. Gibbs' insight into family dynamics is great but not as brilliant as his grip on both reality, and the potential of science. For teachers the book would be great jump off for stem activities, but shouldn't be the reason to read. This last book in the series is an appropriate model for discussions on what it means to identify as human. Again the mystery for me was "meh," I think Space Case was the best in that vain.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Noah delivers a story of History Struggle Faith
Revisado: 12-03-16
Noah is a beautiful storyteller and gifted historian. Really for all ages...there are lessons of institutionalized racism that we can compare to the struggle in the U.S.
