Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Why the buzz about this book?
Revisado: 03-19-21
SPOILER ahead!! I struggled all the way through it; it pained me to see how many great opportunities to improve the story the writer lost. Everyone abandons the protagonist and I wanted to do the same many times throughout the reading, couldn't connect to her at any level. It seemed like even the writer couldn't stand the last chapters, so she rushed to finish it leaving out moments, I as a reader was eager to know about, just to reveal the twisted ending, which was totally out of character. Even though the writing is well done (I'd say well edited), the writer seemed "lazy" by making Kaya's life just too convenient at times and the story implausible overall. If you know something about crime or have read stories about police investigations and court procedures you'll probably agree that the last chapters are absurd. What kept me listening was the good narration, but I listened at 1:25 speed.

It's good.

There are good information that is worth the time and price of this audiobook. The narration though is too fast and sounds too excited throughout the book, making it difficult to enjoy and learn from the listen. Maybe a physical copy is better.

Most people think the way to write a best seller is to have a lot of talent and even more luck. As you will learn, there is a recipe for success, and luck may be the least important ingredient in creating a best seller. No one has cracked the code better than James Scott Bell. A best-selling author himself, and the author of the number-one best seller for writers, Plot & Structure, Mr. Bell has been teaching the principles of best-selling fiction for over 20 years, principles that apply to any genre or style.
