Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

While this was not great literature, I really enjoyed the story. Several generations of the main character’s family deal with some serious issues. There is romance thrown in, but it is more of an aside than the focus as a woman figures out what is really important in her life.

Historia
When Inspector Peter Glebsky arrives at a remote ski chalet on vacation, the last thing he intends to do is get involved in any police work. He's there to ski, drink brandy, and loaf around in blissful solitude. But he hadn't counted on the other vacationers, an eccentric bunch, including a famous hypnotist, a physicist with a penchant for gymnastic feats, a sulky teenager of indeterminate gender, and the mysterious Mr. and Mrs. Moses.

Not what I expected, at all
Revisado: 05-07-18
While the writing in general is not bad, the whole plot terms out to be ridiculous. From the description on the audible web site I rather expected something more like Mousetrap, although not as “Cosy.” A number of vacationers are trapped in a mountain lodge by avalanche. Mysterious events occur, including a murder. I plodded on only to find that the author used what I thought was a cop out to sort of maybe explain it all. .... but I won’t detail the ending. Wouldn’t want to spoil the next reader’s anticipation. The author already did that for me.

Good listen
Revisado: 02-20-18
I would classify this book as more interesting than the cosy mysteries but not as good as the Mrs Polllifax series (my favorite). I often listen to books when working on art or doing housework and like a mystery with a good story but that does not require apt attention 100 percent of the time.

This a delightful tale of three people who are each dealing with tragic life events. They connect in unlikely ways and form a triangle of mutual support. Great read for an uplifting story on the potential to respect and care for unrelated others.

A good listen
Revisado: 08-11-17
Sandra Dallas always delivers a good story of strong women dealing with challenging circumstances. This is not one of my favorites of her work but still an interesting view of women's lives when left to run a farm as their men go off to fight in the civil war.

The Cafe served tasty food but the assortment was limited.
Revisado: 06-06-17
I am a big fan of Sandra Dallas's books, but this was not one of her best. I did not notice the date, perhaps this was an early book. It is a charming story of life in the 40's in a small Montana (?) town and a group of friends who stayed loyal through life's adventures, both good and bad. Somewhat predictable.

Surprises throughout the read
Revisado: 04-21-17
This story kept me engaged as the main character unraveled a complex mystery going back to his college days 20 years earlier. I might question the way a few of the turns went but I was still interested as they unfolded I would recommend this book as something a little different.
