Historia
For years, the United States was confident that the newly democratic Russia and increasingly wealthy China could be lured into a Western-led order that promised prosperity and relative peace—so long as they agreed to Washington’s terms. By the time America emerged from the age of terrorism, it was clear that this had been a fantasy.

Very informative and well researched book on the state of world’s powerful countries notably China, Russia and the US including the recent events in Gaza. If there is a war involving these powers, this book explains the why. Any student of geopolitics will find the most informative and valuable. Highly recommended.

Can’t beat True Crime and Kevin Pearce narrative
Revisado: 01-25-23
Wild Bill Cody is a true manipulator and psychopath. What’s of interest is how he managed to lure smart successful women into his evil plans. Listening to Kevin Pearce tell the story paints an icy chill of how evil can be compartmentalized into a person that attracts these women. Another well performed narrative of true crime by the best.

Historia
On May 31, 1985, two days before her high school graduation, Shari Smith was abducted from the driveway of her family home in South Carolina. Based on the crime scene and the abductor’s repeated and taunting calls to the family, law enforcement quickly realized they were dealing with a sophisticated and highly dangerous criminal.

Not your chilling true crime story
Revisado: 12-05-22
The story centers on a horrific abduction and murder but focuses on the issue of profiling a criminal at its beginning during the early 80s. Too much self promotion by the author John Douglas detracts from the drama.

Reads like a newsletter story, that’s a good thing
Revisado: 09-30-22
As a True Crime reader I found this book very informative about the entire way a homicide is addressed by civil authorities and others. The author reports the murder and details about the victim, without putting in personal observations or commentary about the victim or the killer for that matter. The victim sadly never had her murdering cries answered by her neighbors who heard her screams. Prior to modern day forensic science criminal evidence was difficult to ascertain an arrest let alone a conviction. Hard dedicated work by a few in law enforcement reveals that they’re good people out there helping seek justice for murder victims. An inside look at the art of getting a jury to follow a prosciutto’s narrative of a crime while the defense lawyers are trying to tear down the narrative.

Historia
#1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense Harlan Coben delivers his most shocking thriller yet, proving that a well-placed lie can help build a wonderful life—and a secret has the same explosive power to destroy it. The Stranger appears out of nowhere, perhaps in a bar, or a parking lot, or at the grocery store. His identity is unknown. His motives are unclear. His information is undeniable. Then he whispers a few words in your ear and disappears, leaving you picking up the pieces of your shattered world.

A top notch mystery thriller writer does it again. Not overlong and the narrator was very good. Recommend for Harlen Conan fans or a first time intro to his books.

As a cofounding member of the Beach Boys in the 1960s, Wilson created some of the most groundbreaking and timeless popular music ever recorded. With intricate harmonies, symphonic structures, and wide-eyed lyrics that explored life's most transcendent joys and deepest sorrows, songs like "In My Room", "God Only Knows", and "Good Vibrations" forever expanded the possibilities of pop songwriting.

A very personal and informative story of the man.
Revisado: 09-08-22
The narrator came across as the inner voice of Brian Wilson telling his life story. I loved the insight on the production of the great Beach Boy songs and how Brian would teach each member their parts and giving his best material to his brother Carl to sing. Wilson begins his story with his family and how they all became The Beach Boys. He talks about his admiration of other artists and their music. His candid revelations of his mental illness is poignant and revealing. Brian Wilson is a masterful music genius who wrote, sang, and produced some of the greatest recordings ever. It’s all here.

I’ve read many books on Germany and Russia and the Great War. This is an insightful history of how it all evolved after the monarchy and WWI. How rise of Bolshevik Russia shaped the rise of the Nazis that led to World War Two. Highly recommend this book for an understanding of this period in history.

Murder In The Yoga Store is the true story of the brutal killing of a beautiful young woman at a chic Lululemon yoga-wear shop. The grisly murder was committed on a pleasant Friday night in upscale Bethesda, Maryland, a leafy suburb of Washington, D.C. In this riveting narrative by veteran journalist Peter Ross Range, the author for the first time brings together the tale of what really happened in the yoga store murder.

This was a very good truer crime audiobook. The author does a great job describing the crime, investigators and the victim with special attention to the mind and personality of the killer. Narrator is spot on with his clear inflection. Definitely one of my favorite TC stories.
