I enjoyed the book, good story and narrators. There was a bit to much detailed rough sex. And biggest issue was with the guys only being 3 years apart in age and older one using the term "good boy" too much. Not into Daddy stories, But each to their own.

This is nice love story about an I older and younger relationship that develops into a nice HEA, BUT.
There was too much focus on the kinky "Daddy" type of their relationship and the mild bondage depicted, though mostly in a respectful manner. This story could have been much more meaningful to me if they had taken the bdsm part out. Not my thing.

A must read especially if you read The 99 boyfriends of Micha Summers. At the end of that book my strongest thought was what happened to poor Grant? I felt really bad for him. Well, good news this answers that and so much more. This book was the better of the two stories.

I purchased audible book then walked past this several times. Even after starting this I stopped a couple of times. The first couple of chapters were hard to get into. DON'T SKIP THEM, EMBRACE THEM. I am not a history buff, or a war lover, but this book opened my eyes to the real horrors of world war 1.
If you have a heart you will cry alot at the loss of so many beautiful young men on both sides. Young men don't start wars old farts do but young men pay the price. The two main characters love story is tragic and beautiful, and worth the wait. I am not into the British accent, but the narrator grew on me so much so that I soon did not notice it at all. "Good job old boy." Thank you Alice Winn for your excellent story.

The story was good, but two things bothered me. The sex scenes were graphic and interesting but in a book where there is so much hate and violence adding rough sex to the story seemed to only feed that behavior into the next generation. It was the choking part that turned me off. I would have kicked Roman to the curb for that, no matter how minor it may have been. The second thing was the ending, and I have this issue with many of the gay romance books. It felt incomplete and only a minor HEA, maybe. Please authors give us more desert at the end of the meal, not just a crappy epilog. (Unless you are going for a sequel and make that known upfront).
But am i glad I read it? YES.

Good story about survival, but light on romance.

This book hit in most the right places. The details were will written, the narrators were great, but there was times that I was screaming for the straight boy to admit to being in love with gay boy and show some passion not just compassion. But, none the less I am off to read the sequel.

I laughed out loud at the wonderful humor and loved the story. Loved the charactors and was left happy at the end. Some "action" would always have been welcomed in a romance story. But they were shooting for the PG 13 ratings crowd so it was acceptable. It seems audiobooks either have to little or to much love making, and way to much "fade to black" going on. I am looking for that "Goldilocks zone" with just the right realistic amount of love making.

What sweet story about true love and pressures that society puts on people just trying to be happy doing what they love while being in love with their soul mate. A must read.

If you read Openly Straight you will want to read this. if you haven't read it I suggest doing so before this one. I am not a fan of how either of these books end, but it seems to be the authors style. I would also like more descriptive writing about the romance (even though it was not on the agenda much). I must admit i skipped a few chapters (I think 17-24) where there was a female romance blooming with the main character. I know it happens but I do not care for it in gay romance novels. That is strange since the first gay novel i read was "The lord won't mind" by Gordon Merrick some 50+ years ago. A trilogy about two guys in love in 1940's in New York, and they ended up in a three way marriage with a woman who gave them both children. Love those books, but I guess my tastes have changed.
