Historia
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

Historia
Alma Katsu calls My Heart Is a Chainsaw “a homage to slasher films that also manages to defy and transcend genre.” On the surface is a story of murder in small-town America. But beneath is its beating heart: a biting critique of American colonialism, Indigenous displacement, and gentrification, and a heartbreaking portrait of a broken young girl who uses horror movies to cope with the horror of her own life.

Just.. Can’t.. Keep.. Going…
Revisado: 03-30-23
I rarely quit. I just don’t want to waste the credit. After a third of the book… This is just not the caliber I am used to. The narrator (although I get it, the main character is a teenager) and the constant obnoxious story telling inside the story.. we have yet to get to an actual story. I quit.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-21-23
Big CJ Tudor fan.. This one was disappointing and so hard to follow. Only came together at the very end. Disappointed at the virus theme.. had enough of that.

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

Too Long Unnecessary COVID in your face
Revisado: 08-31-21
Chapter 1 hooked me... Chapter 2 I was livid... I almost pulled my care over to delete the book and leave a bad review for the 100+ COVID references in 5 minutes.
This book while I stuck it out and had a decent plot, should have been at least 3 hours shorter. It easily could have been done if the author left out all the unnecessary references to COVID. COVID had nothing to do with the story line.. yet her efforts to place it in current social times was imbalanced and out of place. Always mentioning whether someone had a mask on or not... how close people were standing.. Living it we get enough of it in social media and the news... Shame on you.. these books are our escape.. and you wasted a decent storyline trying to keep up with pop culture.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Really disappointing. I enjoyed The Guest List, but this one really had no substance. The last hour became mildly interesting (finally) but then also became predictable.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Good Listen Not So Good Narrator
Revisado: 03-06-19
The book was suspenseful but unfortunately the Narrator was tough to listen to. It was very robotic, slowly enunciating every letter and syllable at an unnatural pace.

For the 1st Time I Gave Up,, Couldn't Finish
Revisado: 05-29-18
The book was cheesy, and narration was so over dramatic it was like drinking syrup. I kept waiting for the suspense... and by chapter 25 & seemed like an eternity, I saw I had 75 chapters left and threw in the towel.
