If you’re having trouble solving a problem or reaching a dream, the problem isn’t you. It’s that you haven’t yet installed the one belief that changes everything. Marie’s mom once told her, “Nothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable.” Whether you want to leave a dead end job, break an addiction, learn to dance, heal a relationship, or grow a business, Everything is Figureoutable will show you how.

A Great Place To Start When Pursuing A Dream
Revisado: 02-03-20
As a long-time watcher of Marie TV, I was excited to see Mari had released her first book! I love Everything Is Figureoutable and encouraging messaging throughout the book. It was especially motivating to hear it Marie's voice.
While I loved Marie's narration, I will say that I felt this might be best listened to as a companion to the print version or e-book. It was tough to keep up with all the action challenges. Luckily, Marie does have a book club guide on her website so that might be a good route to go. I personally wanted to listen while driving and working out so if you plan the same, note that you will have to schedule some sit-down time with this audiobook.
Overall, this is a great listen for entrepreneurs or creatives who aren't sure how to pursue their passion as it will map out a path for you!

Wife. Mother. Breadwinner. Penelope Ruiz-Kar is doing it all - and barely keeping it together. Meanwhile, her best friend, Jenny Sweet, appears to be sailing through life. As close as the two women are, Jenny’s passionate marriage, pristine house, and ultra-polite child stand in stark contrast to Penelope’s underemployed husband, Sanjay, their unruly brood, and the daily grind she calls a career.

A Sad but Meaningful Story
Revisado: 04-06-19
While I found this story to be a bit sadder than I had bargained for, overall I enjoyed it. I think there was a lot of heart to it and while difficult to read, it dealt with compelling and eye-opening topics.
I wish that the protagonist had led with a bit more empathy, at least by the end of the novel. Honesty often came at the expense of her friends and families' feelings which became difficult to read as the story went on.
Amy McFadden did a wonderful job performing this story. She does such a fantastic job of conveying the characters' emotions and nuances. She's quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators!

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

A Beautiful Book That Pays Off
Revisado: 03-20-19
After reading (and loving) Major Pettigrew's Last Stand I had searched for something similar. A Man Called Ove kept popping up as a suggestion so I promptly wish listed it but then somehow, never got around to reading it. At last, I have read it and am so glad I did. Although it was a bit slow to start and really sad at parts, the story more than pays off and leaves you feeling uplifted. A truly moving story with a delightful cast of characters.

Another Standout of the Series
Revisado: 02-17-19
I really adored the latest installment in The Seven Sister series. Tiggy was an easy character to root for and didn't require as much redemption as say Cece from The Pearl Sister with her brashness. I liked how in contrast to Cece, Tiggy was sweet and thoughtful which was refreshing. Although she was not without her flaws that were worked through during the novel. Overall, Tiggy's story is now one of my favorites along with Star and Maia's.
I did find Lucia a bit maddening and much preferred the present storyline to the past. Luckily, Maria in the past balanced out the storyline and made it easier to read. Riley really did a great job though presenting a realistic portrayal for what someone like Lucia might behave like given her upbringing.
I am as intrigued as ever to find out more about Pa Salt. This novel definitely dropped a few new clues as to who he may be and what might have occurred. Riley has done spectacular work building up the mystery and I eagerly await Electra's story.

Even worse is the knowledge that her twin brother Jamie saw him first, and claimed him forever as his best friend. Tom’s off limits and loyal to her brother, 99 percent. One percent of Tom has had to be enough for Darcy, and her adoration has been sustained by his shy kindness. And if she’s honest, his tight t-shirts.

A Wonderful Follow-Up to The Hating Game
Revisado: 02-17-19
I personally loved Sally Thorne's second novel. I thought it was very realistic how fraught with flaws and complexities Darcy was and although she could be a bit maddening, it was easy to understand her character and motivations. I liked watching the development of her from start to finish, aided by Tom.
Thorne does such an amazing job at building her characters. Tom was impossibly endearing although he too had his own issues to work through which I appreciated. Even Lorena was such a detailed character despite the fact that all the descriptions of her were told through memory.
I thought this novel had just as many sweet moments as The Hating Game and also the same level of banter and wit. I also appreciated how well structured this novel was- there was just the right amount of flashbacks and transitions between. I really liked how Thorne kept the novel grounded in the present while providing just enough memories from the past to enlighten the reader.
Jayme Mattler was so well suited to voicing Darcy, I couldn't imagine a better narrator for the role. Her voice had so much character and that same gravelly quality that I imagine Darcy's voice would have. She also did a great job providing variety between each character's inflection to distinguish who was speaking.

Uproarious and Clever
Revisado: 02-17-19
I Owe You One is one of my favorite novels of Sophie Kinsella's to date. I loved how reminiscent it was of her earlier works with the key facets of a meet-cute, flawed protagonist, and nuanced yet humorous supporting characters. In particular, I Owe You One really reminded me of I've Got Your Number which is my favorite novel by Kinsella.
I loved how complex Fixie and found her lack of assertiveness to very real and relatable. I especially appreciated how much attention to the plot Kinsella played, her novels are never solely about the romance and she does a wonderful job on focusing on the character's whole life, rather than just the love aspect.
So many bits in this book had me laughing out loud, especially the Farrs staff members and customers. The descriptions of Greg and his antics were hysterical. If you liked all the antics that occurred in Wedding Night (also by Kinsella) you'll definitely adore this one.
Fiona Hardingham couldn't have done a better job at narrating. She does a magnificent job at nuancing each character's voice and really bringing the book to life with her inflections. She definitely knows how to read the comedic moments in a way that makes them even funnier.

Unique and Compelling
Revisado: 12-07-18
I loved this book much more than I thought I would. I purchased it on a whim during a 2-for-1 credit sale and wasn't expecting too much since I hadn't done research on it. I was quickly spellbound by this book though and found it hard to stop listening. I especially loved Helen Duff's narration, she really did a great job handling the variations in each character's voice. Normally, I don't like when narrators perform accents but Lily's Ukranian accent was not at all distracting.
I really loved the depth of the character of Alice. I was instantly enamored by her quirks and her affection for her family. Lily also was very endearing and it was hard not to feel empathetic for her plight. I especially enjoyed the scenes with her and Russ, they brought comedic light to a sometimes heavy novel.
This was a really beautiful story and if you're a fan of Liane Moriarty or Kate Morton, I think you'd especially enjoy this novel.

A Good Follow-Up Albeit Weaker than the First
Revisado: 12-07-18
Although the sequel is a little weaker than it's predecessor, it still makes for a fun read. It picks up right where the last book left off so I was glad I read at a time when all three books had already been released. I do wish that this book featured more growth, especially from Peter. I think Han wrote the character of John Ambrose McLaren a little too well and it's hard not to start to see Peter in a more negative light due to John's addition to the series.

Even Better Than The Movie
Revisado: 12-07-18
I was skeptical to read To All The Boys I've Loved Before for a couple of reasons. The first being that it's set in high school and I assumed it might only be relatable to that age group. I also thought the premise might mean there would be really cringeworthy moments that would seem immature. Then, the movie came out and I decided to watch and loved it. Deciding it didn't matter that I knew the plot (due to the movie) I decided to give this book a try.
Overall, it greatly exceeded my expectations. It was fun getting to read all the little details to Lara Jean's character and I was appreciative to get the background on the Covey family. I liked how much attention Han paid to really incorporating the significance of Lara Jean's mother throughout the book and did feel the movie didn't quite convey that. I also loved the moments like Dr. Covey trying and failing to cook the Korean dish, it was even better to read than to watch.
It was also interesting to see what got cut in the movie and what stayed in. I would say anyone who's seen the movie should still give this a try! It's just as or even more enjoyable even if you know the movie outcome.
Also, I must say it was not at all cringeworthy or immature at any points. Han very realistically portrayed adolescence and all the ups and downs of high school. It reminded me a lot of Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella in that even though the protagonists are young, they're still written to be relatable to all ages. Han truly succeeded in writing a relatable coming-of-age trilogy, to all ages.

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA TODAY best-selling author R.S. Grey. Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies. I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras. That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window. A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom).

Reminiscent of The Hating Game
Revisado: 06-19-18
This was a great read and my favorite so far by R.S. Grey! I thought the romance was really well developed and I enjoyed the pacing. I also thought this had a unique setting and I liked the backdrop of New Orleans.
Part one of this story is a little slow going but I really encourage sticking with it. The past arc really provided the perfect backstory to truly sell the chemistry between the two leads. I have felt with some of other Grey's novels that they are a little rushed so it was nice to see her take her time with this one. Overall, a perfect summer novel!
