Historia
In 2010, pioneering sociologist Catherine Hakim shocked the world with a provocative new theory: In addition to the three recognized personal assets (economic, cultural, and social capital), each individual has a fourth asset - erotic capital - that he or she can, and should, use to advance within society. In this bold and controversial book, Hakim explores the applications and significance of erotic capital, challenging the disapproval meted out to women and men who use sex appeal to get ahead in life.

Research approach to attractiveness
Revisado: 04-11-22
Honestly, I think erotic capital is something that should be talked about more often. I work in an industry where my looks is what gets my foot in the door, and keeps me in the house, and this book was reinforcing all those concepts I kinda speculated but didn’t think through.
Worth the read.

Historia
Here, anthropologist David Graeber presents a stunning reversal of conventional wisdom: He shows that before there was money, there was debt. For more than 5,000 years, since the beginnings of the first agrarian empires, humans have used elaborate credit systems to buy and sell goods - that is, long before the invention of coins or cash. It is in this era, Graeber argues, that we also first encounter a society divided into debtors and creditors.

A very dense but good read!
Revisado: 05-31-21
The book was way too dense for my own personal liking, but I’m certain other people wont care about that. The author is very attentive to detail and has a nice way of transitioning from the very beginnings of debt to what we know of it today. He debunks certain myths on debt that the majority of us hold to this day, and overall explains the important role debt takes on the society. Would recommend!
