I think at its core, this is a story about family and how death and other hardships shape its overall dynamic.

Throughout this book you'll be drawn into their lives, past and present, until both their worlds meet. It's a story too about family history.

Not a lot happens, while at the same time so very much happens. It's plodding, but thrilling. Unique, but familiar. Emotional in every way imaginable. Every character, every moment, is precisely placed. Nothing is superfluous. The writing is tremendous.

I keep thinking of this story, as a 'days in the life of'' sort of story. And I think that's the best way to look at it. You're getting a lot of history, with snapshots of the present. It's thrilling, but overall there isn't an overall story arc. It's an experience more than anything.

The narrators were incredible. All perfectly cast. Their performances were spot on and added so very much to the story.

Tautly written.

The story is emotional and gripping. Horrifying and unrelenting. Both relateable and mind-boggling. Frustrating for all the right reasons. The pace never let up, Every character - big and small- were thoroughly developed and - those good and bad - were great additions to the story.

The narrator too a chapter or two to vibe with, but ended up doing justice to the story. I will physically read it in the future as it's a story you shouldn't experience only once, but also because even though the narrator was good, there are narrators better suited for this story.

Let's go over the synopsis:

A couple, seeking a romantic night out, instead find themselves in the midst of a one-of-a-kind zombie crisis. This isn't a Walking Dead remake or an unoriginal story of boring ass zombies. No. Men everywhere have turned into come-on quoting rapists hell bent on inflicting terrible harm.

My review of the story:

This is a story with a message. Cockblock is an allegory of the harsh realities that come with being a woman. It's an unflinching look at how things have only gotten worse and continue to get worse in the Age of Trump.

It's an indictment of the male ego. Of chauvinism and sexism. But not in the vain of 'all men are evil' at least not as far as I was concerned and I'm a man. The message seemed on point and accurate. Women deal with a lot of crap and this is putting what they deal with on the daily on blast. It's a mature observation of what is wrong, one of the many things wrong, with the world.

The writing is smooth and blunt, with nothing whatsoever in tone and wordage being held back. I appreciated that. If you're going to deliver any sort of commentary on current events, then do so with a sledgehammer. And C.V. Hunt has one hell of a sledgehammer at her disposal.

This is a story whose message is more important than the story and raises the story up because of that.

My review of the narrator:

Ramona Master reads Cockblock. Her pacing is good. She does fail to give each character their own voice, with exception to the gay-bashing nun and an Irish woman on the radio. Still, despite the lack of independent voices she did a really good job. Though admittedly, it can sometimes be hard to ruin a solidly written story.

Some bits - very very few - seemed a little repetitive. But overall it was a really damn good first book. I laughed and smiled and teared-up and cringed and gasped. There were shocking revaluations that made me respect both women more so than I already did. The lists, Rose's sarcasm and Rosie's eloquence in her reading were all delightful cherries on top of one happily gay cake. I adore these two and root for them every single day. I wish them more and more success.

Where does 1001 Erotic Nights (Mythic Erotica) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

My Review For The Story Itself –

Was the curse a lack of trust? I couldn’t help wondering that.

The story starts with an erotic shocker, which I quite enjoyed. The writing began solid, very sharp and visual and that didn’t let up. The sex scenes were very well written. It isn’t easy to keep things fresh when there are ample amounts of them, but Melos managed to do just that. They were all beautifully paced. The story itself was lightly plotted but executed to perfection.

My Review for the Narration –

Narration work isn’t easy when it comes to erotica. You want someone who can both tell a story, and get you hard as fucking rock, keep you hard, and eventually get you off. I mean, sorry not sorry to be so blunt, but that’s the whole point of erotica. Sierra Kline wasn’t good … she was perfect. You could tell she put in the work. Every voice was expertly done, the lust in her voice during those raunchy scenes in the book is the reason for global warming – hot, hot, hot!

What other book might you compare 1001 Erotic Nights (Mythic Erotica) to and why?

It's unique enough that I can't compare it to anything.

Which scene was your favorite?

It's erotica, so every sex scene was hot.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Would you listen to Necromantic Encounter again? Why?

Heck yeah. Because it was hot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Necromantic Encounter?

It was all pretty intense.

Which character – as performed by Darren Homewood – was your favorite?

Jack was devilishly delicious.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As stated above it was all pretty intense.

Any additional comments?

Good voice work.
Good pacing.
Good audio quality

The narrator did really good work -- especially when he got to the meat of the story which was where he revved things up twenty fold. This is a massive compliment as I don't usually like male erotica narrators.
