The challenges keep coming for Kate, and I learned a bit more about her family tree. As usual, the setting is beautifully woven into the plot, and some new alliances are starting. I wish that less space was taken up by going over what we already know about Kate’s family history and childhood trauma. This is the fifth book in the series, a reader either knows this by now, or they should backtrack and read the preceding books. That being said, I am starting the sixth installment, today, I’m hooked on Kate Daniels and the whole supernatural community in Atlanta. Well done.

Great characters, believable relationships.

I’m new to the Kitty Norville series. I listened to the first book on loan from my library and liked Carrie Vaughn’s spin on a werewolf just trying to make her way in an out of balance world. It’s a fresh take how the author presents the supernatural characters as regular people trying to cope with their differences and societal prejudices and norms. So, I purchased volumes 2and 3 on Audible. Four stars because I felt that the insertion of certain types of supernatural beings like witches and skin walkers was a little choppy in this story. It was as if the author was trying out a few ideas for future story lines, but didn’t have a plan to flesh them out in this book. I wonder if Kitty will become a podcaster as time progresses, it would certainly fit her brand. No spoilers…but there’s a very cool and unexpected trajectory in Kitty’s love life in this book. Basically this is an easy, fun and interesting listen; it was perfect while traveling in cars and planes during the holidays. I’m purchasing book 4 this evening, so yes, I recommend this book, and the series thus far. The narration is seamless, and the Kitty’s voice sounds pretty much like what a I’d expect from a late night radio talk show host. Well done.

I appreciated the practical tools offered to improve my conscious connection with God. Also the respect and inclusion of all faiths as paths for returning to a relationship with the Divine. I plan to order a physical copy of the book so that I can dive deeper and gain more understanding of the subject matter.

This was more of a podcast than an audio book. The story line was somewhat predictable, but the characters were engaging. It seemed like it was created for a YA audience, but it held my interest enough to listen until the end. I Found the musical interludes distracting, even when they marked the end of an episode.

Bernie Mac’s story was beautiful

I enjoyed hearing Bernie Mac tell his life story in his own words. It was like sitting down and listening to an acquaintance, and by the end of the story having a friend. He was a star and a real human being. It’s a short book and so worth hearing.
