Historia
With sweating hands, Alison Shaw stared nervously into the giant seawater tank. One year ago, she and her team of marine biologists had stunned the world with an incredible breakthrough. Now they were about to do it again. And this time, they were ready. But an ocean away, something strange was unfolding. Along a lonely coast in South America, an experimental Russian submarine - long thought to have been dismantled - has suddenly resurfaced. And the US Navy has taken notice, sending John Clay and Steve Caesare to investigate.

Excellent book. Spellbinding
Revisado: 11-01-16
Thus is the second book in the Breakthrough series. While Breakthrough could have been a standard alone, Mr. Grumley artfully brings Leap into an excellent sequel. I found the storyline to be spellbinding. I hated to interrupt the narrative. Definitely looking forward to Catalyst.

Historia
The year is 2008 and Samantha Kofer's career at a huge Wall Street law firm is on the fast track - until the recession hits and she gets downsized, furloughed, escorted out of the building. Samantha, though, is one of the "lucky" associates. She's offered an opportunity to work at a legal aid clinic for one year without pay, after which there would be a slim chance that she'd get her old job back. In a matter of days Samantha moves from Manhattan to Brady, Virginia, population 2,200, in the heart of Appalachia, a part of the world she has only read about.

Historia
The Cure is a genre-bending thriller reminiscent of Michael Crichton or Douglas Preston, about the biological underpinnings of psychopathy. As a child, her family was taken from her by a serial killer. Erin Palmer is left orphaned and forever scarred. She dedicates her life to the study of psychopaths, conducting one-on-one interviews and tests with inmates. When Erin finally finishes years of exhaustive research, she finds herself in possession of the key to ending psychopathic behavior - in the species - forever. That' s when they try to kill her.

Great story, surprising twists
Revisado: 10-29-13
What made the experience of listening to The Cure the most enjoyable?
The easy flow to the story, the surprising twists. Nice character development
What other book might you compare The Cure to and why?
I would compare this to one of Michael Crichton's books Prey. There is an excellent story line and continuing action.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I was not impressed with the narrator's voice characterizations. He is not a narrator I would pick for this sort of book.
Any additional comments?
Well worth the time. Very entertaining with a some thought provoking dialogue.

Hoping for a sequel

Would you consider the audio edition of The Cuckoo's Calling to be better than the print version?
N/A
Who was your favorite character and why?
Stryker as the protagonist is a believable personality. One whose intelligence is masked by his appearance. Great character development.
Which scene was your favorite?
I can't nail down a single scene.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not initially. But about halfway through I found myself lingering to catch a few more paragraphs wishing I could sit back and go on.
Any additional comments?
I am hoping there will be a sequel. I enjoyed the way the story was developed. I felt we were given all the clues but I didn't suspect the real murderer.

Historia
At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani ( Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

Clogged
Revisado: 09-10-11
As I listened to this story it difficult to understand where it was going. In the end, it was unsatisfying. The story was clogged with psychological ramblings and many unanswered questions. Perhaps it was the translation or the age in which this was written. The concept was solid but the execution was not.

Good Story Weak Ending
Revisado: 03-25-08
I enjoyed the story. The prose was excellent, painting pictures with wonderful descriptions. The ending was weak. I found it disappointing after the buildup. The wordcraft made the book worthwhile.

Historia
At his death in 1988, Robert A. Heinlein left a legacy that almost single-handedly defined modern science fiction. But one of Heinlein's masterpieces was never finished. In 1955, he began work on Variable Star, a powerful and passionate tale of two young lovers driven apart by pride, power, and the vastness of interstellar time and space. Now, the Heinlein estate has authorized award-winning author Spider Robinson to expand his outline into a full-length novel. And the result is vintage Heinlein.

This brings back the granduer of Heinlein and melds beautifully with Robinson's style. This book crosses age boundaries to reach young and old. I loved the twists and the imbellishments within the story line. Great Book
