Don't Waste a Credit
Revisado: 06-26-24
I have no idea how this book is overall rated 4.6. Even with one of the best narrators in the business, the writing was so bad I just could not take it and I've listened to some less-than-stellar books. It sounds like it was written by a 15-year old. The immediate transition of the main character when he goes underground as well as his thought processes were incredibly annoying / unrealistic. Not for me.

A heart-wrenching new novel from best-selling author Rebecca Yarros that examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can't bring ourselves to see coming.

Incredible story and narration
Revisado: 04-29-24
I have read and listened to thousands of books. I would put this in my top 10 to read / listen to again. The depth of emotion, character development, and storyline was incredible. The storyline twist was totally unexpected. The narration made it better. Highly recommend this Audible book. I will definitely look for more from Rebecca Yarros.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Great Story and Performance!
Revisado: 07-19-21
For those who love science fiction, this novel is fantastic! Andy Weir is great at explaining the technical aspect of the story while keeping it entertaining. It's the perfect balance of developing the story line, characters, with some humor and science. This was every bit as good as The Martian. I can't wait for the film adaptation of this one. Ray Porter does a great job as well. Highly recommend this novel.

The positive reviews confuse me
Revisado: 06-16-21
The story was hollow. The language the adults used was like listening to teenagers, and there was way too much cursing. It actually distracted from the story. The narrators were very annoying. I have never heard a man sound so “breathy” and he was overly dramatic with weird pauses. I’m glad this one was free. It would have been returned otherwise.

Great book!! Don’t let negative reviews sway you.
Revisado: 03-15-19
Please don’t let negative reviews about the graphic scenes turn you off. This book is amazing! I have read thousands of books and this was mild compared to some. Anyone listening to this genre expects a few graphic moments but this is not over the top gruesome. The character development, story, and writing style is great. I am an avid Clancy and Baldacci fan and this was no worse than any scene in books by these authors. Great book! I will listen to more by Karin Slaughter.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Great Concept... Poor Execution
Revisado: 05-02-17
What would have made In the Courts of the Sun better?
The concept for the story was amazing, but I could not get past the writing style. It sounded like a whiny teenager at times. Oh Em Gee, Totes, etc. really got on my nerves. I'm used to reading authors such as Clancy, Rollins, and many other greats and this just did not measure up. It is almost as if it is geared toward a young audience (I'm 42).
What did you like best about this story?
The story was an amazing concept and I really wanted to enjoy the book more than I did. I just could not get past his writing style. Robertson Dean's performance made it tolerable so I did listen to the end, but I will not purchase the second book.
