Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

I usually just sit back and enjoy most audiobooks, but this...
Revisado: 11-19-24
The narrator sounded like she was trying not to wake someone else in the room. She seemed to whisper the whole time and didn't change up the characters' voices enough to follow who was speaking. Also, I felt like the writing style was full of cliches and the story became predictable. I'm not usually this negative about audiobooks, but I made myself finish this one and was glad when it was over.

Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

Simply Perfect
Revisado: 01-24-24
A wonderfully crafted, beautifully articulate piece of literature; perfect in every way. The story is a leisurely stroll through a park witnessing and experiencing the detailed sites, sounds, smells and emotions of the stroller, in combination with those occupying the park. Now imagine that stroll over decades. Children grow, and have children of thier own. Chess is played, on checkered boards, and through polite conversations. Chance encounters, become serendipitous events. An epiphany that details are not just details. Ageless paradigms are tested, reconsidered, and tested again. Granite is weathered shaped and smoothed until it has the potential to fracture and become rough again. This is a story of such strolls, seemingly mundane until you realize these strolls are segments of a journey that embody a life's evolution into a curtain call; ending in ovations applause!

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Didn't see it coming!
Revisado: 01-01-24
I like that all of Anni Taylor's books surprise me. Some aspects are unbelievable, but it's definitely entertaining, start to crazy finish! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narrator was for the most part quite good, but the American accents (and a few others) got a little cringy. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this book!
