Good story, great production!

I read about the McCarthy trials in Congress in the 1950’s but not extensively. I do know that a lot of innocent people were blacklisted, careers ruined, whether justified or out of paranoia I don’t know. However much of this story is fact or fiction, it is (sadly) relevant to the present.

I listened to this story in an afternoon. I have to admit the main reason I chose this was because of the cast; the story was incidental.

I don’t usually write reviews but this production impelled me to. I found myself looking at my phone over and over expecting to see the action on screen, the audio was that good. This could be the next best series on streaming TV 😉

I love Dolly!

I couldn’t stop listening and finished this book in a day. Dolly Parton has such a gift, imagination and talent, she is a master storyteller. Her songs tell stories that hold the listener’s attention to the end (and sometimes you don’t want them to end!). She is fierce, not afraid to stand up for herself but has humility and grace and that’s why people love her. I’m so glad she narrated this book herself. Her words, her voice, fabulous. Thank you Dolly!

I don’t know how I missed RATM (stuck in “classic” rock mode too long, I suppose) but I am definitely now a fan of Tom Morello. He’s smart, witty, eloquent and I love that he’s not afraid to stand up to injustice or stupidity in TPTB. Adding Rage to my Pandora feed. Let’s see where it takes me.
