Historia
Willow Havens is 10 years old and obsessed with the fear that her mother will die. Her mother, Polly, is a cantankerous, take-no-prisoners Southern woman who lives to chase varmints, drink margaritas, and antagonize the neighbors - and she sticks out like a sore thumb among the young, modern mothers of their small conventional Texas town. She was in her late 50s when Willow was born, so Willow knows she's here by accident, a late-life afterthought.

Most perfect book!!
Revisado: 06-27-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I loved this book! The characters and the setting were perfect. I could just picture them in my head while I was listening! Polly has some spunk and I hope to be just like her one day!
Would you ever listen to anything by Kathy Hepinstall again?
Absolutely!!
What didn’t you like about Jenna Lamia’s performance?
The characters are from Louisiana and now live in Texas...that being said, my only peeve was ONE word used in the book to decribe Polly's trees. As a native Louisiana'ian, and now residing in Texas...People from Louisiana nor Texas say PEE-CAN...we just don't! It is pronounced PUH-KAHNS...we have puhkahn pie...not pee-cann pie! Other than that, Lamia's performance was stellar!!!! She was perfect in every character!
Any additional comments?
If you are from the south, particularly Louisiana, you will identify with 100% of this story line...Nearly a perfect book in my opinion!!

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

We all know an Ove!!
Revisado: 06-16-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is great! Starts a little slow, but soon you are waiting to hear what he will say next....or not say. I could just picture him so clearly while he was carrying on about whatever was eating at him at that particular moment. Just loved it!!!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Ove...but Parvaneh brings him to life...She's a keeper! I giggled everytime she had something to say!
Which character – as performed by George Newbern – was your favorite?
Parvenah again....he was a perfect voice for her!
If you could take any character from A Man Called Ove out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Parvenah again....I would be friends with her!
Any additional comments?
Give it a charpter or two to get going....a tad difficult to figure out where the book is set for location in the very beginning...then,give your self a minute to warm up to Ove. You will love him in the end just like I did!

Historia
In the South, you always say “yes, ma’am” and “no, ma’am.” You know everybody’s business. Football is a lifestyle, not a pastime. Food — especially dessert — is almost a religious experience. And you protect your friends as fiercely as you protect your family — even if the threat is something you cannot see.

Heartwrenching and sweet.
Revisado: 06-16-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is full of sadness, humor, lasting love, sweetness and honor.
What does Nan Kelley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nothing! That was my only dislike...this book is set in the south and in my personal opinion, it should have been narrated with a southern dialect. Nan Kelley is a great narrator, but she just didn't fit this book. No one says the word Mrs...properly...it is alway Miss...narration was too proper for the book I thought.
