The author shares her story of taking care of her terminally ill daughter Hunter. She shares her struggles and joys and blessings throughout this period of time. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. There is much to gain by listening to her story.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Bad Narrator
Revisado: 01-13-22
The narrator sounds like Google translate. I couldn't listen any longer which is too bad because the story is good.

Historia
Auckland Island is a godforsaken place in the middle of the Southern Ocean, 285 miles south of New Zealand. With year-round freezing rain and howling winds, it is one of the most forbidding places in the world. To be shipwrecked there means almost certain death. In 1864, Captain Thomas Musgrave and his crew of four aboard the schooner Grafton wreck on the southern end of the island. Utterly alone in a dense coastal forest, plagued by stinging blowflies and relentless rain, Captain Musgrave inspires his men to take action.

No interest in the characters
Revisado: 05-23-17
I forced myself to finish it. The characters were never really developed and I didn't care if they lived or died.
The short version of the story is they were ship wrecked and ate seals over and over. The End.
