Historia
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Historia
Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

I know it's a series but I always wonder why an author would end a book on such a bad note.

I would have given five stars except that the subject matter was somewhat boring to me. Too much cooking and food talk, which is something I have no interest in.

Nevertheless, Hank is forced to investigate the killing and comes to realize it is connected to a much larger collection of miseries than even his uncle could manage. This episode marks a huge shift for Hank as he ventures into unknown regions of the cosmos and is confronted with the harsh truths of his reality.

Larry should have killed off stricken. call me immature but I can't abide him as a main character in the story. for an author to go so far to make some character so absolutely unlikable and obviously the bad guy and then turn around and have him leading the good guys is just too annoying for me.

Revisado: 08-30-21
This book started out real well. And I think it was written very well too, at first. Unfortunately based on everything I've read about space warfare from other sci-fi authors and naval commanders who hypothesize what space warfare will someday be like, everything happening in outer space in this book is completely improbable. Ships that travel at thousands of miles per second would not stop to fight it out with each other, they would pass each other through space so fast they would need computers to take care of the firing of their weapons because human hands wouldn't be fast enough. Or so it is believed would be the case. a weapon with a range of 100 miles would be completely worthless.
Even if that isn't the case why could they not maneuver their ships while firing their weapons at the same time, they could have cleared the hundred mile range, it just doesn't make any sense.
Anyway that is just the most obvious problem I have with the book, really there are about 10 or so other issues that just don't make any sense either but I won't go into all of it. Suffice it to say I think the author made peoples decisions so very unrealistic along with technical improbabilities basically ruined the book for me.

Historia
Through Commodore Slater’s efforts, humanity’s war with the council is over. He gave Earth the tools it needed for victory, but at a great cost to himself. The Franklin was destroyed, and his core is slowly dying. Discovered by those who seek to use him for profit, Slater is taken to Sarton Station. His captors intend to use him for their own amusements, but they have made a deadly mistake. They have placed a derelict core right where he wants to be, in a station surrounded by all the salvage and biomass he needs to recover his mind and rebuild the Franklin.

Revisado: 07-27-21
I like the second book though I was just starting to get slightly annoyed with the room building of his derelict/dungeon. Too much of that storyline can get tedious, so when this book started with him back at square one doing the same thing again I had a tough time getting through it.
Also no attempt whatsoever was made in sticking to the actual physics and the logistics of space warfare. The distances and speeds required for two ships to battle in space makes the end of the book completely ridiculous imo.
