Terrible Narration
Revisado: 09-13-20
This narrator spent no time at all learning how to pronounce names and place names in Spain. It would have taken little effort to honor the book’s author and its subject to learn how to pronounce these names in a way that was, at least, an approximation of their real pronunciation. It appears he didn’t spend a second doing that. His narration was dry, lacked any color, and combined with his lack of attention to the text’s requirement that he offer the listener even a partial version of Spanish place names, made this book impossible to endure. So, I didn’t. I got out as soon as I could.

Good story, bad narration
Revisado: 07-12-20
Why, oh why do authors think they are the only ones who can narrate their books? Their insistence that they narrate it due to any reason including what they might think is the cost of hiring a professional voice talent (believe me, pro talent are way underpaid for audiobooks) almost always greatly hurts their audiobook. Their story suffers, their reputation suffers, the likelihood that a reader will buy their books in the future is reduced. Badly narrating your own book is an authorship career killer!!! Don’t do it. Alas, this author already did. He had a good story to tell, he wrote it well, but then he made the mistake of thinking he was the one to narrate it.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 07-03-20
I listened to the first 10 minutes of this book and could take no more. This is a great example of why book authors need to separate their egos from their book and let a professional narrator read it. This author, it seems, got behind a microphone and said to himself, “Wow! I’m a real narrator now!” No, you aren’t. You seem to have something of a lateral lisp, and the excessive drama in each sentence of your delivery is quickly overbearing.
It might have been a really good book. I will never know as I can’t possibly listen to another minute of it.
Write well and then get someone who can narrate as well as you write to read it well. You did not do this here and it shows.

Good book—but narrator? Not so much.
Revisado: 06-05-20
It took me a while to determine if the narrator was offering us an impersonation of a completely pompous, prototypical stuffed-shirt snobby British male of the 1950’s or if he actually sounded like he did. Sigh...he did...he was...he is. Pity as it detracted significantly from what was otherwise a well written and humorous book.

Lame-Ass Book
Revisado: 06-26-17
Would you try another book from Mary Beth Maziarz and/or Teresa Willis?
No way would I buy another book from this author.
Has Kick-Ass Creativity turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I still want to read books about creativity I simply want to read GOOD books about creativity and this is not one of them.
How could the performance have been better?
Narrator tried hard to make the author's words lively. Not her fault that the words and concepts were trite.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Kick-Ass Creativity?
This is one of those books that talks about what it will talk about but never really talks about it. Got 3 chapters into it then gave up.
Any additional comments?
If one wants to read a really good book about creativity, forget this one and immediately buy and download and enjoy listening to Elizabeth Gilbert's "Big Magic". She knows what she is talking about and writes so well and then narrates it with such warmth that she really does communicate "big magic".

Historia
Best Gay Erotica 2015 is filled to the pause-resisting brim with fantastic tales of fire dancers and TV repairmen, of hunky painters and electricians and magicians, solo sex, duo sex, and sweat-soaked triple onslaughts. Heck, throw in an alien and a priest, and you'll soon see why this anthology is head and shoulders - not to mention certain other body parts - above the rest, and always with the highest literary quality that listeners have come to expect from this esteemed and steamy collection.

Dreadful
Revisado: 08-03-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The stories were not exciting, there was no sense of urgency or real sexuality. They seemed like they had been written quickly without really thinking about what erotica is.
Would you ever listen to anything by Rob Rosen again?
Likely not.
What didn’t you like about Drake Stone’s performance?
His voice and manner are not suited for this kind of material. The first words out his mouth told me that I had just wasted my money on this book.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Best Gay Erotica 2015?
Probably all of them.
Any additional comments?
Erotica is erotic, sensual, sexual, hot, steamy, lusty...this book is none of these.
