intolerable heroine sinks this book

When the heroine has the emotional capacity of a bratty 17-year-old, there is absolutely no desire to continue with such a story. Did not finish. This author does great in MM romances, but her MF ones definitely lack a degree of any emotional maturity you might want in a heroine.

illogical and stupid characters

I knew the end was coming when I wanted him to punch her and shit her up and then toss her off a cliff for endangering their lives because she had to be written as “strong independent female” by really was stupid zero common sense piece of shit female. Letting her quit and finding a new heroine would have been an excellent novel. This? This was not. Save yourself and skip. Definitely not up to par to most of author’s other works

Cute. decently written. However, incredibly predictable plot wise. Bubble gum sweet and nearly as unfulfilling. Sometimes heroine was dislikable with illogical mood swings and confused rationale for behavior. Overall characterizations were stereotypes more than actual people. Hero was a walking cliche of how a female writing a male voice wants a man to be but cannot write them. Still a cute tale just ... eh. Narrator was decent but oftentimes so slow and unemotional it made a quick read into a ponderous listen.

well done except for a protracted drama end that has no explanation beyond character idiocy

a story fails when one of the main characters is a complete idiot, repeatedly, but without any explanation as to why or other character traits other than being a self centered idiot. So, yeah. That rather spurred the experience. Being an idiot for sake of drama falls flat. Also, urge to slap said character upside the head or at least fight for his own job and life. Ugh.

meh. Poorly executed tale.

If you find yourself only tolerating the narrator, wanting to kill the mother, strangle the friend, punch the h and slap the H upside the head ... probably best to stop listening. Made it 60% through and realized the problematic writing on top of unlikable characters made this a waste of time. Weirdly it was the writing weakness that made this intolerable. Overall not bad but def not good.
