Historia
In the days of the frontier West, it was not unusual for desperadoes and fugitives from justice to seemingly disappear from the face of the earth. Shadow on the Trail by Zane Grey, one of the best-selling authors of all time, is the story of one such man who returned to reestablish himself in a law-abiding society. In Texas, young bank robber Wade Holden, once the toughest, fastest trigger man in the notorious Simm Bell gang, makes a promise to his dying mentor that he will go straight. But with the Rangers on his tail, he struggles to find sanctuary.

The story was written well enough to overcome the poor performance.

The one thing that made me want to stop listening devalues times through the book was the narrator, just horrible!

Historia
It starts with a jailbreak. Frank Thorson and his gang ride into Wolfwater to bust Frank's brother out of the slammer. First, they slaughter the deputy. Then, the town marshal. Finally, they run off with the marshal's daughter and no one's sure if she's dead or alive. The townsfolk are desperate enough to ask that drunken old coot Catfish Charlie to put down his fishing pole and wine bottles, pick up his Colt Army .44, and go after the bloodthirsty gang. Sure, Catfish Charlie may be a bit rusty after all these years. But when it comes to serving up justice, no one is quicker.

This was the worst book I’ve listened to period!!!
Revisado: 01-24-25
Bad plot and horribly narrated, just miserable to listen to. The whole fish biting his toe was so far beyond belief it ruined the rest of the book

My personal thoughts
Revisado: 08-15-22
I love these authors, but I was so disappointed in this book. Some of the verbiage was not of the period and cocaine was not even around then. The straight no BS sheriff let the black man walk knowing he broke the man’s neck and then set him on fire. This story was just horrible, the worst book ever written!!!
